When She Ended It With Divorce (Chiara and Titus) novel Chapter 27

Chapter 27

“Even though we’re married, this isn’t right if I don’t want it. Titus, please, let me go!” Chiara’s voice cracked with desperation as she struggled against the restraints binding her wrists.

The feeling of being tied up was utterly humiliating, and a surge of helplessness brought tears to her eyes. She glared at Titus, her gaze burning with fierce resentment and bitterness.

But Titus held her firmly, his grip unyielding. “I think you’re saying no, but what you really mean is yes,” he murmured, his tone low and insistent.

Chiara’s face flushed with a mix of anger and frustration. She couldn’t believe his audacity. “Just shut up,” she snapped back, her voice trembling with suppressed fury.

A flicker of impatience crossed his features. “Stop fighting,” he warned quietly. “You’ll only end up hurting yourself.”

A cold wave of fear swept through her. “No, please… don’t do this. Let me go, Titus,” she begged, her voice barely above a whisper.

True terror gripped her then—this wasn’t just physical pain she feared. It was the overwhelming sense of powerlessness that came with his control over her, a feeling she had come to dread over their three years of marriage.

The room grew heavy with silence, thick and suffocating.

Titus’s handsome face darkened, the shock in his eyes quickly hardening into something far more dangerous. His expression was cold and unyielding as he looked down at her trembling form, a vein throbbing angrily at his temple.

When he flipped her over and caught the confusion in Chiara’s eyes, his own face twisted into a storm of rage. The fury inside him was so intense it pounded in his head like thunder.

His fingers tightened under her chin, and he spoke in a dangerously soft voice, “What’s that look for?”

Her body shook violently. “I… I…” she stammered, unable to meet his gaze or voice the truth swirling in her mind. The words simply wouldn’t come.

Her thoughts drifted to a news story she had once read—a woman married through a matchmaking service who discovered her husband was impotent on their wedding night. She had mocked him mercilessly and demanded a divorce. In a brutal act of wounded pride, the man had tortured her with instruments before tearing her apart.

Seeing the dark fury etched on Titus’s face now, Chiara was certain that one harsh word from her would unleash a similar blind rage.

“L-let me go,” she whispered, her voice shaking. “You’re hurting me.”

But instead of easing the tension, her words only thickened the oppressive atmosphere in the room.

She looked up at him, trembling. His face was more terrifying than ever—twisted and vengeful, like a ghost seeking retribution.

Titus clenched his jaw, fighting the overwhelming urge to wrap his hands around her throat. He closed his eyes, his features so fierce it sent a chill down her spine.

Without another word, he turned sharply and strode into the bathroom, afraid he might lose control and hurt her beyond repair if he stayed.

*I’m hurting her?* Titus scoffed silently. *She couldn’t be more obvious.*

The bathroom door slammed shut with a harsh bang, making Chiara flinch. Yet, surprisingly, she felt little of her usual anger or shame.

The sound of running water filled the silence. Chiara pressed her lips together, a sudden realization dawning on her—she wasn’t the one who should feel ashamed or upset tonight.

A grim satisfaction stirred within her, lifting the corners of her mouth into a wry, involuntary smile.

Somehow, without even trying, she had managed to turn the tables.

Raising her wrists, she tried to bite through the tight knot binding her, but Titus had tied it expertly—no matter how much she twisted and pulled, it wouldn’t loosen.
