When She Ended It With Divorce (Chiara and Titus) novel Chapter 8

Chapter 8

Chiara made the decision to return to the Lynch family home, leaving behind everything she had at Titus’s place—no clothes, no jewelry, nothing. It was as if she wanted to erase her presence there completely.

When Lindsay caught wind of this, she was taken aback. Without wasting a moment, she tried calling Titus, but he didn’t answer any of her calls.

“Serves him right,” Lindsay muttered under her breath, her voice laced with bitterness. “No wonder his wife is walking out on him.”

The following morning, Chiara arrived at the Lynch Group offices. Heather immediately called for an urgent meeting to formally introduce her to the team.

For the time being, Chiara would assume the role of Heather’s secretary—the perfect position to gain insight into the company’s operations.

Everyone at Lynch Group was aware that the Lynch family had another daughter, but Chiara had barely made any public appearances over the years.

Titus had always insisted she be referred to simply as Mrs. Goodman, preferring to keep their marriage under wraps and away from any unwanted attention.

Three days later, Titus came back to the villa. Noticing Chiara was nowhere to be found, his expression darkened instantly. “Where’s Chiara?” he demanded sharply.

Lindsay rolled her eyes discreetly but kept her gaze lowered as she replied, “She’s not here.”

“Where did she go?” he pressed further.

Finally, Lindsay met his eyes. “She moved back to the Lynch residence three days ago.”

Titus’s face turned cold and hard as steel. The usual lazy, indifferent look vanished, replaced by a piercing, unforgiving glare.

Lindsay felt a shiver crawl up her spine. Before Titus could lose his temper, she quickly added, “I called you, sir, but you didn’t pick up.”

*Why is he looking at me like that? Is he about to blow up at me?* she wondered nervously.

Titus remained silent for a moment, jaw clenched tightly. Then, a cold laugh escaped his lips. “She’s got some serious guts.”

Lindsay kept her head bowed, unwilling to say another word. Inside, however, she was rolling her eyes wildly.

It wasn’t until Titus left that Lindsay finally exhaled deeply, relief flooding her. Pulling out her old flip phone, she dialed Chiara’s number.

“Mrs. Goodman, just so you know,” Lindsay warned, “Mr. Goodman was home and furious when he found out you moved out. I’m pretty sure he’s coming your way. Be prepared.”

Chiara frowned as she ended the call, her mind already racing.

“What’s wrong?” Heather asked, noticing her friend’s worried expression. “Who was that?”

“Titus just got back,” Chiara replied quietly.

Heather’s eyes snapped up, catching sight of Chiara’s phone. “Perfect timing. I have something to say to him.”

“Heather,” Chiara said hesitantly, a hint of nervousness in her voice.

Heather gave her a reassuring smile. “Don’t worry. I’ve got this.”

Just then, Chiara’s phone rang again. She glanced at the caller ID before answering.

Titus’s voice was cold and demanding. “Where are you?”

With Heather’s encouraging nod, Chiara responded firmly, “I’m at Lynch Group.”

About thirty minutes later, Titus sat in the backseat of the car, lighting a cigarette and lowering the window slightly. The evening air was cool, but his mood was colder still.

“You didn’t know she started working at Lynch Group?” he asked, his tone icy.

“Sorry, Mr. Goodman,” Paul answered quickly, clearly aware he’d made a mistake.

Titus watched the Lynch Group entrance with detached eyes, the cigarette dangling loosely between his fingers.

Soon, Chiara’s slender silhouette appeared, walking alongside Heather.

Titus let out a harsh, cold scoff. Paul glanced at the rearview mirror, utterly confused by his boss’s reaction.

As they approached, Chiara stood quietly behind Heather, her eyes fixed on the ground.

“Mr. Goodman, do you have a moment?” Heather asked politely.

Titus’s gaze swept over Heather before settling on Chiara.

He exhaled the last of his smoke, his voice low and dangerously smooth. “Sure.”
