Whispers Turn to Whimpers: Could He Ever Change? novel Chapter 1260

"Wow, that smells amazing," Joyce said, holding her plate. "What kind of pie is this?"

"Pork. My sister said it's your favorite."

"She's right!" Joyce nodded with a wide grin. "Back when we lived in Crestwood, Sherilyn used to make them whenever she had time. They were so delicious." She picked one up and took a big bite, her cheeks puffing out. "I'm usually so lazy. All I ever eat are pre-packaged sandwiches or hot dogs. I'm letting the side down."

"Of course not," Galen said, placing a glass of freshly squeezed juice beside her. "Your profession is demanding. You're just too busy to cook." Out of all career paths, medicine was one of the toughest.

"It's fine," Galen glanced at her and said softly, "As long as I know how to cook, that's all that matters."

Joyce paused, understanding the implication in his words. She didn't argue, which was a tacit agreement. Instead, she playfully ordered him, "Pass me the sauce."

"Alright."

As they ate, Joyce asked, "Did you go to see Sherilyn for a specific reason today?"

"I did," Galen nodded and told her about the grave relocation. He sighed. "It's the plots that are going to be tricky to sort out."

"About that..." Joyce said after hearing the story, "I can ask my family if they know anyone who can help."

"That would be great, thank you."

"It's no trouble. It's just a phone call. Not nearly as much trouble as you cooking for me."

After Galen left, Joyce couldn't stop thinking about the grave situation. She mulled it over and finally decided to call Nanson.

"Cousin."

"Joyce," Nanson's voice came through the line. He was still out at a business dinner. "What's up?"
