Whispers Turn to Whimpers: Could He Ever Change? novel Chapter 1261

Nanson stopped by to return some documents to Sherilyn.

"Everything's here. Could you check and make sure nothing is missing?"

"Of course."

Sherilyn looked through the folder carefully, then smiled and nodded. "It's all here, thank you." She added apologetically, "I'm sorry to make you come all this way."

"It's no trouble at all," Nanson said, shaking his head with a smile. "I was in the neighborhood anyway." He began putting his things back into his briefcase.

Just then, Sherilyn's phone rang. It was Galen.

"Hello, Galen." She answered, turning aside to whisper, "Mr. Cooper is here dropping something off. I'll call you back in a minute…"

"Don't worry about me," Nanson interrupted, hearing her. "You two go ahead and talk. I'm leaving now." He picked up his briefcase and stood.

"Let me see you out…" Sherilyn started to get up, still holding her phone.

"Really, it's fine." Nanson smiled. "Didn't Joyce lecture us? We're all friends here, no need for formalities."

"…You're right." Sherilyn chuckled and gave in. "Alright then, Nanson. Drive safe."

"Will do." Nanson gave a slight nod and left.

"Galen?" Sherilyn brought the phone back to her ear. "Is it about the cemetery plot? Any news?"

"Yes," Galen's voice was light and cheerful. "Joyce helped out."

"You told Joyce?"

At his words, Sherilyn fell silent, phone in hand. She had anticipated this, even if Galen hadn't brought it up. What could she do? Forbid them from coming? That wasn't realistic. First, she couldn't physically stop them if they were determined to go. Nothing could change the fact that Malvina was her grandparents' daughter. Second, she had to consider Galen's position.

After a moment, she said, "I understand. Let them come. I won't make things difficult for you."

"Thanks, sis." Galen's voice filled with relief, gratitude, and a hint of guilt. "I know this is hard for you."

"It's alright." Sherilyn sighed softly. "The most important thing is to let our grandparents rest in peace."

"Don't worry," Galen added. "I'll keep an eye on Mom and Yuna. I won't let them bother you."

"Okay." For her brother's sake, she would endure the unpleasantness.

Sherilyn sighed again as she hung up the phone. Her brow furrowed in thought. She was replaying what Galen had just said… Wind Bridge had called him about a suitable plot?
