You Cheated I Moved On novel Chapter 20

Chapter 20 Ethan Was a Far Better Man

“My apologies.” Chloe apologized immediately, taking full responsibility for the accidental bump.

She tried to step around him and continue back to the booth, but a strong, unyielding grip closed around her wrist and yanked her backward.

The force was so intense that a startled yelp caught in her throat.

The thick stench of alcohol washed over her.

The man she had bumped into held her fast, his flushed face creased into a lewd, repulsive grin as he fixed his greedy gaze on

Chloe’s delicate features.

His voice matched his sleazy appearance, dripping with vulgar innuendo.

“You think a simple sorry gets you out of this, beautiful? You hurt me real bad-how about you rub the pain away for me?”

The man leered shamelessly, his eyes roaming greedily over Chloe’s body.

With his free hand, he patted his own chest suggestively.

The sight and behavior were utterly repulsive, making Chloe’s stomach turn.

Chloe fought back her revulsion, her voice dropping to a frigid, sharp tone. “Let go of me right now.”

The man pressed on with his crude remarks, undeterred by her cold refusal. “Don’t be so cold, baby. We’re all here to have fun. Let me show you a good time. You look all prim and proper- what are you like behind closed doors?”

He lifted a hand and reached directly toward her face.

Drawing on the self-defense training she had completed years before, Chloe did not hesitate for a split second. She slapped him hard across the face, then lifted her stiletto heel and stamped it down firmly on his instep.

The man let out a piercing, pig-like shriek, clutching his stinging cheek and throbbing foot, his face contorted in pure agony.

Chloe seized the brief window of opportunity to wrench free from his grip and sprinted as fast as she could toward Ethan’s booth.

She had badly underestimated the man’s speed and physical strength, however.

A sharp, searing pain shot through Chloe’s scalp as he caught up in seconds, yanking her hair violently and dragging her backward while spewing a string of vulgar, abusive insults.

“You little bitch, you’ve got a death wish! You should be grateful I even looked your way. Do you have any idea who I am? I’ll teach you exactly what happens when you cross a man like me!”

He continued to hurl abusive slurs as he dragged Chloe toward an empty private room nearby.

Chloe screamed for help at the top of her lungs, but the deafening, bass-heavy music of the bar drowned out every cry.

No one in the crowded venue noticed the violent altercation

unfolding in the corner.

Chloe was no match for his brute physical strength; her frantic struggles failing to free her from his iron grip, and she was pulled further and further away from the main crowd of

patrons.

Just as she was about to be dragged forcibly into the private room, Chloe closed her eyes in cold resignation.

Despair washed over her-until a tall figure appeared out of

nowhere.

Elgan delivered a hard, targeted kick to the man’s lower back3:42

It was Caden, the red-haired man from the nearby booth, his attitude reckless and confrontational.

He grabbed a heavy glass wine bottle from a nearby table, raising it as if prepared to strike without hesitation.

Chloe’s heart jumped into her throat at the sight.

At least ten men stood in the group, and her earlier relief turned to sharp fear as she worried about Ethan’s ability to defend himself against such overwhelming numbers.

She prepared to grab his hand and flee in the ensuing chaos, but Ethan remained completely unfazed.

He had even pulled out a cigarette and lit it with steady hands, his composure unshakable even in the face of a potential fight.

Although Chloe was impressed by his unnerving calm, she reached out to take his wrist and pull him to safety, but the group was already upon them.

It’s over!

She braced herself for a violent, messy brawl, only to hear the sharp crash of shattering glass.

Caden’s wine bottle slipped from his grasp and crashed to the

foor.

His arrogant, aggressive expression melted into unbridled terror and nervousness, his voice shaking violently as he stammered, “E-Ethan… what are you doing here?”

Caden could barely believe his eyes.

His reserved, serious cousin was in a rowdy bar and in the company of a young woman no less.

Chloe glanced between Ethan and Caden, finally noticing the clear, undeniable family resemblance in their facial structure.

Ethan ignored his cousin’s stunned question entirely. He tilted his chin toward the man who had assaulted Chloe and asked in a

calm, firm tone, “He’s a friend of yours?”

Nodding numbly, Caden was too frightened to protest or make

excuses.

“I never want to see him in this place again,” Ethan stated, his voice leaving no room for argument.

Caden nodded vigorously, his head bobbing so quickly it looked painful, too terrified to utter a single word of pushback.

Chloe followed Ethan out of the bar without another glance

back.

Alght, cool wind had picked up outside, rustling the aves of 42

Ethan opened the passenger door of his car and gestured for her to get in, despite her quiet intention to part ways there and head home on her own.
