Chapter 24 Visit Logan
Jane had already married Julian. Once their relationship went public, Jane could waltz into the Summers family and become*
Mrs. Summers.
And James thought Chloe would be thrilled to take Jane’s place as the Crawford family heiress?
What did they take her for a garbage can, happy to collect Jane’s leftovers?
James couldn’t figure out what Chloe was thinking.
He paused, then said tentatively, “The company has a real estate development project coming up. We need investors. Since you’re so close with Sonia, maybe you could put in a word? See if you can arrange a meeting with Ethan Price. The sooner the better- this Wednesday would be perfect.”
Just as she’d expected.
If she weren’t useful to him, she could never be allowed to set foot in this study.
Perfect. She was looking forward to playing their little game.
“Sure, I’ll give Sonia a call and set up a meeting with Mr. Price.” 1/7

James was practically beaming, his attitude toward Chloe warming by several degrees. When she left, he even walked her to the door personally.
Julian was waiting for her outside.
“Chloe, Grandfather was asking about you yesterday. Want to visit him tonight?”
Julian’s expression looked strained, his smile forced.
Chloe glanced at Tina and Jane’s faces and immediately
understood. Those two had obviously been pressuring Julian to hurry up and deal with the stock transfer.
“Sure, let’s go together.”
Right in front of Jane, Chloe looked up at Julian with a playful
smile.
“So you’re not going to grill me about Liam anymore?”
Julian’s lips curved into a slight smile as he reached out and gently touched her cheek. “Of course not. I was just asking. Come on, let’s take your car.”
His car still smelled like Jane’s perfume-he didn’t want Chloe to notice and get upset.

Chloe linked her arm through Julian’s and they headed to the
car.
Jane watched them leave, her carefully controlled anger finally boiling over.
“Mom, did you see that? She was flirting with him right in front of me… and I’m Julian’s real wife.”
Jane’s voice shook with rage, tears threatening to spill.
Tina soothed her gently, completely forgetting that Chloe was her own flesh and blood.
“Don’t worry about her. Julian only has eyes for you. Once he gets those stocks, he’ll cut ties with her. Don’t cry, sweetheart.”
“Dad even walked her out just now.”
Jane couldn’t help feeling bitter about James’s earlier gesture.
Tina glared at her husband. “Why are you being so nice to her? Jane is our daughter. That Chloe-she’s ungrateful!”
The first month after Chloe moved in, she’d driven back to the countryside every few days to visit Steven and Mary-those Eeople who raised her.

Like she was rubbing it in their faces.
James gave her a withering glance.
“You and Jane need to back off. Leave her alone.”
With that, he strolled into the living room, humming cheerfully.
Jane stared after him in confusion.
“Mom, what did Dad mean?”
Tina was equally puzzled. Had he lost his mind today?
She followed him inside to demand an explanation.
James sighed. “This is why they say beauty and brains don’t always go together. Chloe’s gotten close to Miss Price, and she might even have an in with Ethan Price himself. The company needs funding badly, so don’t screw this up.”
If Chloe could help them connect with the Price family, the Crawfords would rise with the tide!
Understanding dawned on Tina. Seeing Jane still pouting, she transferred ten thousand dollars to her account. “Go shopping. Cheer up.”
Jane finally smiled through her tears.

Chloe followed Julian to the Summers family estate. The moment they arrived, the housekeeper spotted Chloe through – the window and hurried inside.
“Mr. Summers! Chloe’s here!”
Soon, an elderly man in a navy cardigan emerged, leaning on his walking cane.
“Chloe! You finally decided to visit me!”
Logan’s face crinkled with joy, his eyes twinkling with genuine
warmth.
If there was one person in the Summers family who genuinely cared for her, it was Logan-and only Logan.
“Hi, Logan.”
Chloe walked over and offered him her arm for support, with Julian following behind.
“Work has been so busy lately. I’m sorry I haven’t visited. How have you been?”
Logan’s health wasn’t great. Before Chloe had returned to the Grawford family, she’d accidentally saved him during suddom4
