But there was an overwhelming sense of unease that gnawed at her heart. Nadine couldn't quite explain it. It felt like something was pounding against her chest. A dull pain spread through her and seeped into her very core.

Nadine tried taking a deep breath, hoping to calm the dull ache, but it was no use.

Seeing her restlessness, Avery couldn't help but express concern. "Babe, what's wrong? You look uneasy, and you don't look too good."

After discovering that Brad might actually be Sean's biological father, Avery began to reassess the marriage from an outsider's perspective. If Sean really was Brad's son, a divorce wouldn't be the best outcome for Nadine.

Nadine had tried her best to distance herself from him and to act indifferent. But despite her efforts, Avery could tell that Nadine still cared about Brad in some way. Plus, Brad didn't seem to hate Nadine as much as he claimed either.

Avery walked over, took the book from Nadine, and gently closed it as she shook her head with a smile. "You know, you're terrible at lying. You look up every time you lie. Come on, I'm not a stranger. Tell me what's troubling you, and we'll think it through together."
