“Sophia… Sophia, slow down, will you?” Dorian panted as he was dragged along. Once they were out of the Hebert family’s house, he stopped to catch
his breath.
“Why are we running, anyway?” Dorian asked, still confused.
Sophia glanced back at the Hebert house, where the chaotic uproar could still be heard.
“Mr. Herbert just about blacked out from rage. Well, you wanna stick around for their blame game?” Sophia said.
Dorian answered, “Sophia, you react so fast.”
Sophia answered with pride, “Of course, I’m very experienced.”
Hearing that, Dorian thought, ‘Experience making people faint from anger, I bet.
After enjoying the drama, pocketing 60 thousand, and giving the Hebert family a hard time, Sophia felt completely refreshed and thought, ‘Nothing lifts my mood like shaking things up for others.‘ Humming cheerfully, Sophia turned to Dorian and said, “Let me buy you dinner.”
Dorian’s eyes lit up. “Absolutely!” he answered and nodded eagerly.
Sophia eyed the tuft of hair sticking up on Dorian’s head and thought, ‘Why won’t it stay down? I kind of want to just pluck it out.‘
Since Sophia treated Dorian, the venue was naturally chosen by Dorian. As the apple of the Stone family’s eye, Dorian picked Jelasburg’s top exclusive private kitchen, where the imperial–chef–descendant owner served unique signature dishes.
They booked a private room and had just settled in when Sophia’s phone rang. Seeing who was calling, Sophia picked up, and Yvonne’s anxious voice burst out, “Sophia! I heard Ingrid threw acid at you. Are you okay? Did you get hurt?”
“I’m fine,” Sophia replied lightly. “It was just a few drops, nothing to worry about.”
Yvonne said, “Just now, my mom told me that Ingrid’s mother came by and wanted me to plead for leniency for Ingrid. But don’t get me wrong, Sophia, l didn’t agree, and I won’t do it.”
Yvonne thought, ‘Since the semester started, with Sophia’s notes, I’ve been hitting the books day and night. I don’t even touch my phone anymore. If Ingrid’s mom hadn’t come to me, I wouldn’t have known something so serious had happened at all.’
“Ingrid used to be totally obsessed with celebrities; it honestly freaked me out. I tried to talk her out of it so many times, but she never listened. Anyway, we’ve completely cut ties now.” Yvonne added.
“She did something wrong and should face the consequences. Sophia, I’m firmly on your side.” continued Yvonne.
Sophia smirked and said, “How did she know we’re close?”
Yvonne quickly apologized, “Sorry, Sophia. After our first exam this semester, I jumped over a hundred spots in the rankings. When our neighbors asked, my mom got so excited she let it slip.”
Sophia said, “Just focus on your studies; don’t worry about anything else.”
Yvonne said obediently, “I will, Sophia. There’s something you should know–Ingrid has a close friend from outside school. He’s been good to her, but he’s got a record for assault and has a temper. I’m worried he might come after you.”
Sophia arched an eyebrow and answered, “Got it. Thanks for the heads–up, Yvonne.”
Being thanked seemed to fluster Yvonne. They chatted briefly before hanging up.
Sophia looked up and spotted Dorian speaking around with a look of barely contained glee, clearly ready to watch some drama unfold.

Chapter 109
“Sophia, I just saw Jerome. He was having dinner with his shady crew, and there were two women with them,” Dorian said, practically rubbing his hand. together.
Sophia smiled at Dorian and asked, “And then?”
Dorian plopped down, put on his most innocent face, and said, “Then I took a quick photo and sent it to Maelis.”
Sophia thought, ‘Knew this kid was up to no good.‘
Dorian defended himself, “I don’t like being a snitch, but Jerome and his friends called Maelis a ‘doormat’ and Jerome didn’t defend her. I had to record it and send it to Maelis. Those guys are just too much.”
Sophia gave Dorian a look and thought, ‘if you hadn’t looked so gleeful, I might have believed you.’ When the dishes arrived, Dorian urged, “Sophia, let’s get moving. We need to catch the show.” Sophia didn’t reply, but her fork moved noticeably quicker.
Maelis stormed in, her stiletto heels striking the floor like gunshots as she hurried over. The sharp, echoing clicks grew louder with every step, a sound
that made even the bystanders flinch.
“She’s here! She’s here!” Dorian said and wolfed down his last bite, a grain of rice still clinging to his cheek, then jumped up and cracked the private room door open just a sliver. Dorian’s eyes sparkled as he peered out, tracking every movement outside.
“She went in, Maelis just went in!” Dorian whispered excitedly, narrating in real time. Sophia immediately abandoned her meal, pushed aside her tableware, and strode straight toward the other private room.
As Sophia and Dorian entered, they heard Maelis’s sweet voice laced with coldness, “Jerome, get your filthy hands off her.”
Jerome instinctively withdrew his hand, his face turning sour, and asked, “What are you doing here?”
Maelis sneered and answered, “I’m here to collect your corpse.”
“Whoa! Well said! A man who doesn’t respect himself is just trash.” Dorian said and clapped for cheering.
Maelis glanced back, saw Sophia, and added without missing a beat, “A man who can’t keep it in his pants is just gutter trash.”
Jerome was speechless.
His buddies also fell silent.
They thought, ‘What’s going on? Who would’ve guessed the sweet little wife could turn into such a spitfire?‘
“Maelis.” Jerome’s face darkened with humiliation in front of his friends.
But Maelis wasn’t intimidated anymore. “Why the shouting, Jerome? If I don’t put you in your place for a day, you start acting up, is that it?” Maelis said.
“Maelis, don’t push your luck,” Jerome snapped, phantom pains shooting through him just seeing her. “If you keep this up, I’ll call off our engagement.”
As soon as he finished, all his cronies gaped at Maelis, expecting her to break down whimpering pitifully. But the next second, they were left dumbfounded.
