Chapter 15
“The top scorer among STEM students? 1,574?‘ Heather thought, completely stunned.
“Are you even listening to me? Don’t go anywhere. I’m coming back right now!” Jonathan shouted into the phone. He was furious with Heather and Howard’s stupidity.
The line went dead with a series of beeps. Heather stood there, her phone still pressed to her ear, frozen like a statue.
“Since Sophia craves fame so much, I’ll make sure she gets it—in the worst way possible!” Howard laughed from the couch. He casually popped grapes into his mouth while posting on Twitter, a nasty smirk spreading across his face.
Yvette noticed Heather’s ashen face and felt a sudden wave of unease wash
over her. “Mom, what happened?”
Heather snapped out of her trance and muttered, “Sophia really is the top
STEM student.”
Howard’s smile froze. “That’s impossible. How could she possibly score
better than Yvette?”
Instantly, Yvette’s face turned pale.
Howard asked, “Mom, who called?”
“Your dad. He’s called the school to confirm it–it’s true,” Heather replied.
The grape slipped from Howard’s hand, rolling across the floor in slow
motion as disbelief washed over his face.
Yvette’s uneasiness grew, her fists clenching nervously. ‘Sophia is really the top scorer? But why didn’t the school contact Heather and Jonathan about it? Why did Jonathan have to check with the school himself?‘

Chapter 15
Quickly, a thought struck Yvette–Sophia might not have given the school their phone numbers at all.
Yvette closed her eyes, feeling a wave of humiliation sweep over her. She had thought Sophia was a total joke, but now it looked like she was the one herself.

Jonathan returned home quickly. He burst through the door, storming inside, and immediately unleashed his anger. “Howard, you’re such an idiot. How do you even survive in the entertainment industry?”
“And you…” Jonathan turned to Heather but stopped himself. With the kids around, he decided to cut her some slack.
“I’ve asked PR to see if they can shut down your interview,” he sighed heavily. He was already worn out from the daily grind at work, only to come home to more chaos created by his own family.
Finally, Jonathan calmed down and asked, “Where’s Sophia?”
Heather glanced upstairs. “She’s up there.”
Jonathan asked a servant to go upstairs and call Sophia down.
As Jonathan had stopped yelling, Heather finally spoke up. “I didn’t do it on purpose. If she really was the top scorer among STEM students, why didn’t anyone call me about it?”
Jonathan felt another headache coming on. “Do you still not get it? They didn’t call you because they don’t even have your phone number.”
Heather was stunned into silence.
Just then, Howard’s phone rang–it was his agent, Alfred. He stepped outside to take the call.
As soon as Howard picked up, Alfred exploded. “Howard, can’t you go one

day without causing drama? How dare you run your mouth with the reporters and post that crazy stuff on Twitter? Are you trying to tank your entire career or what?”
Soon after, the servant came downstairs. Under everyone’s intense stares, she reported nervously, “Mr. Chandler, Ms. Sophia Chandler said she won’t come down.
“She also said if you have something urgent to discuss, you can go upstairs. And if it’s about the SAT, you can just transfer the money directly.”
Heather, who had been threatened by Sophia, lost her temper. “Money again! That’s all she cares about. She’s an adult now. We can’t keep treating her like a kid. Does she think our money grows on trees?”
Jonathan shot her a cold look but said nothing. Instead, he quickly transferred 30 thousand dollars to Sophia.
Heather fumed, but she was powerless to do anything about it.
Yvette took in the whole scene, a sarcastic laugh bubbling up inside her. She lowered her eyes, her nails digging into her palms.
