Chapter 34
Chapter 34
Dante fore, his entire body stiffening as he stared at Sophia. Shock and a whirlwind of emotions fickered in his eyes, but the hatred radiating from him was almost suffocating ‘How does she know?‘ he wondered.
Teresa stood there, completely stunned. Her mind buzzed with chaos, leaving her utterly blank. It felt like an iron grip was squeezing her heart, making it hard for her to breathe.
“Twins… she thought. The word echoed in her mind as her vision dimmed. Her face turned ghostly pale, drained of all color.
Dante’s gaze turned venomous, his mind already racing with plans to eliminate Sophia for good
Seeing this, Jonathan slumped into his chair, despair washing over him like a tidal wave. Two words echoed in his mind as he thought, “it’s over”
Furious, Dante luned his wrath on Jonathan, his voice sharp and threatening “Jonathan, if the Lynn family is going down, don’t think the Chandler family will get off easy!”
Seeing Sophia about to speak again, Jonathan finally snapped. His temples throbbed as he barked, “Sophia, shut up!”
Sophia rolled her eyes at him, her clear gaze glinting with a hint of madness.
With a dazzling smile, she turned to Dante and said, “Now that’s more like it, Dante, I’ve got to hand it to you–guts and resolution,
“I were you, I’d make sure the Chandler family went down with me. if I’m going down, I’m taking someone with me. No way I’d take this lying down.”
Aber Dante and Teresa left, Jonathan barely managed to hold back his fury. “Sophia, have you completely lost your mind? What the hell are you trying to da?”
Sophia stood up, ready to leave. Hearing his outburst, she blinked innocently and replied with a playful smirk, “Just doing my good deed for the day.”
‘Zane’s practically on his deathbed, and Mrs. Lynn still doesn’t know Dante has two illegitimate twins. Isn’t that just tragic? But hey, what can I say? I’m just too kind hearted for my own good, she thought.
Jonathan was so furious that he felt like he might burst a blood vessel. As Sophia stepped out the door, she could still hear his enraged shouts echoing behind her, calling her a disgrace and an ungrateful daughter.
Unbothered, Sophia walked away. The scorching heat drove her into a nearby coffee shop. The ordered a coffee and some dessert, and then settled into a seat, idly scrolling through her phone.
Everywhere she looked, from short videos to social media feeds, people were buzzing about Howard’s upcoming appearance on a variety show.
Just as she was about to exit the app, she saw two hashtags: Howard’s car accident) and Howard’s chased by obsessive lans].
Seeing them together, Sophia could more or less piece together what had happened. But it wasn’t her problem.
She had just set her phone down when a call came in it was Jonathan. She didn’t bother answering Instead, she blocked his number and tossed her phone face down onto the table.
Propping her chin lazily on her hand, Sophia gazed out the window. The pedestrians outside hurried past, their faces blurred in her unfocused stare. Her thoughts began to drit
Suddenly, her eyes frome on a figure. Across the street, under the blazing sun, sat a man in a wheelchair. His presence was otherworldly–calm yet chilling. Their eyes met across the road, locking in a silent exchange.
Sophia blinked, and just then, a truck rumbled past, momentarily cutting off her view. When it cleared, the man was gone. Lowering her gaze, she absently rubbed the rim of her coffee cup, a faint chuckle slipping through her lips.

To her, that man always looked so frail, like he was clinging to life by a thread, yet he outlived her every single time. In every time, It was he who collected her dead body.
He was like a grim reaper. His appearance always signaled that her end was near
Sophia closed her eyes and let out a long sigh. ‘It’s so unfair, she thought.
When she opened them again, a manic gleam danced within. A wild, unrestrained laugh bubbled up from her chest. If the clock’s ticking, I might as well go out with a bang” she thought,
Then the phone on the table buzzed. It was James calling. “Ms. Chandler, are you planning to drop the case?”
“No,” Sophia replied.
James continued, “A man claiming to be your father just came to our firm. He said you wanted to withdraw the lawsuit.”
“He has no right to make that decision for me,” Sophia said.
Soon, the call ended. A young couple walked past her table as she sat there. The woman’s voice drifted over as she said, “These young girls are out of their minds. Chasing after celebrities like that–one dead and one injured. It’s horrifying
“Honey, if we ever have kids, we need to raise them properly. I heard those two were still in high school. What a waste.”
Sophia took a sip of her coffee and unlocked her phone. Her feed was flooded with news about Howard’s car accident.
Yvonne clearly recognized her and looked a bit surprised. “Oh, it’s you! I’m so sorry for bumping into you. Let me treat you to some coffee to make up for
“This Starbucks store is my favorite! it’s cheap, delicious, and just around the comer from my place. They just came out with a new flavor, so came to try it today!” Yvonne said, her bright smile and energetic vibe lighting up the store.
When Sophia finally got her coffee, she felt a mix of emotions. “Thank you.”
Yvonne’s eyes twinkled as she smiled, her gaze soening. She leaned in a bit and asked with a small voice, “Wow, you’re gorgeous! Which school do you
Yvonne grew even more excited, elenching her fist in enthusiasm. “Then you must know Sophia Chandler, right? She’s this year’s top scorer on STEM students. She’s amazing and brought so much pride to Crest High School”
