Chapter 35
Sophia’s fingers trembled slightly as she typed out a message to Yvonne. vonn, what happened to that friend of yours? Didn’t see her today)
Yvonne replied to her almost immediately: She ended our friendship So sad |
Sophia raised an eyebrow. The last time she saw them, she thought it was just a little spat between two girls that would blow over soon.
Yvonne sent another message: Quick question. Are you into langirling over celebs!]
Sophia replied bluntly. [Not really.
Yvonne sent a happy spinning cat emoji, and Sophia couldn’t help but smile a little. Since Yvonne didn’t have the answer, she’d have to ask someone
Sophia stepped out of her room and immediately spotted Yvette in a soft, textured light green dress the same style as one of the dresses Sophia had cut
“Well, Sophis, you’re home,” Yvet
se, Yvette said, straightening her back when she noticed Sophia staring at her dress. A smugglint lashed in her eyes as casually adjusted her hair.
She continued, “Did you hear? Howard was in a car accident. I’m heading to the hospital to see him. Want to tag along?”
Sophia crossed her arms, her lips curling into a sneer. “You look way too happy about his accident. What’s next? Planning his funeral?”
Yvette froze, momentarily stunned, before frowning. “Sophia, how can you say that?”
Sophia smirked. “You want me to say something nice? How much are you paying?”
Yvette was left speechless. Sophia gave her a once–over and said, “Take off the dress.” She thought it was an eyesore.
Yvette shook her head. “This dress was a gift from Mom.”
Sophia scoffed and said fiercely. “Oh, really?”
Scared, Yvette stumbled back, her eyes darting around like she’d seen a ghost. Then she ran away.
Sophia clicked her tongue in annoyance. She had planned to ask someone about the car accident, but the house was empty. It wasn’t until ater dinner that Heather and Wette finally returned.
Sophia wasted no time and asked, “What’s the deal with the car accident?”
Assuming she was concerned about Howard, Heather replied, “Howard only suffered some minor injuries. He’ll be discharged tomorrow.”
Sophia frowned. “I’m not asking about him. Who are the ones involved–one dead, one injured?”
Heather hesitated, momentarily taken aback. Yvette, always the troublemaker, added with a teasing tone, “Sophia, you don’t care about Howard? Why bother caring about strangers?”
Having waited all afternoon, Sophia’s patience snupped. “Yvette, do you itch for trouble if you don’t act like a fool for a day?”
Yvette immediately ducked behind Heather, pretending to be scared.
Heather, clearly displeased, said, “Yvette’s right. You don’t care about Howard, so why care about anyone else if it weren’t for them, Howard wouldn’t have been in the accident, Luckily, it’s just minor injuries this time.”
Sophia slammed her foot into the chair, the sharp crack of wood breaking the tense silence. She unleashed her frustration on the two of them.

Chapter 35
She yelled, “What does his accident have to do with me? Should I throw a parade and hire a band to send him off?”
Heather and Yvette were both stunned,
“Idiots,” Sophia muttered as site stormed back to her room. What a waste of time, she thought, I should’ve known better than to expect anything use from them” Taking a deep breath to calm herself, she decided to message Charlotte directly,
Charlotte seemed busy and didn’t reply immediately
Sophia waited patiently, In the meantime, she gathered all her old high school notes, packed them into a box, and planned to drop them off at the Starbucks store tomorrow for Woone.
It wasn’t until 9 PM that Charlotte finally responded. Sorry, the station’s been hectic. I haven’t had time to check my phone.
Still eating instant noodles in her office, Charlotte sent another message to Sophia. Both students are from Crest High School. Ingrid Williams‘ injuries are serious but not life threatening Giselle Welch, unfortunately, didn’t make it
Charlotte assumed Sophia was asking out of concern for Howard, and since the identities of the two students weren’t confidential, she shared the Information
Sophia frowned at the reply. Ingrid, Yvonne’s friend, was the one who would throw acid at her in the future. As for Giselle, the name didn’t ring any bells at all.
The next day was the day to film the variety show, but Sophia had clearly forgotten about it. She slept soundly without nightmares and woke up early.
She went to the kitchen, toasted a slice of bread, and held it in her hand. Just as she sat down, the doorbell rang
The maid, on her way to answer the door, glanced at Sophia hesitantly.
Sophia took a bite of her bread, her face full of disdain. “What’s that got to do with me?”
Sophia merely gave them a cold glance, finished her milk, and slammed the empty carton onto the table. The loud “thud” echoed through the quiet living room.
The crew members flinched. They thought she might look pretty, but those cold, lifeless eyes were enough to make anyone’s skin crawl. “What a strange girl they thought.
At some point, Howard had returned from the hospital. With his hair a mess and a groggy expression, he came downstairs.
