Chapter 51
Chapter 51
Hall an hour later, they were already at the police station. Monica, with her flair for dramatics, accused Sophia of attacking her son, Kevin, claiming that Sophia had hit him so hard. His head was injured and bleeding profusely.
Monica cried, “My son’s head is hurt! He bled so much who knows if there will be any lasting damage? If anything happens to him, fwon’t be able to go on living!
“This matter is non–negotiable. I demand justice! She must go to jail, face detention, and have a criminal record. She needs to pay the price for what she’s done!”
Monica’s stance was unyielding; she refused to accept any form of compensation or settlement.
Sophia sat quietly, looking sweet and composed. She seemed completely at ease, as if she were in her own home, paying no mind to Monica’s accusations and showing not a hint of fear.
Yvette kept her head down, nervously twisting the hem of her dress, her body trembling as if she were scared. But deep down, she was thrilled–if Sophia could really be detained, it would be perfect.
A police officer called Sophia over for questioning. “Did you hit Mr. Sampson?”
Sophia nodded. “Yes, I did.”
The officer frowned, clearly confused. “Why did you hit him?” Sophia stayed silent.
The officer asked again, “Are you an adult?”
Sophia nodded once more, and the officer began lecturing her.
Charlotte walked in from outside and saw Sophia sitting there with her head down, quietly enduring her colleague’s scolding. “What’s going on here?” Charlotte asked.
Sophia heard the familiar voice but kept her head down.
The officer explained the situation to Charlotte, who then said to her colleague, “Let me handle this.”
Charlotte glanced at Monica, who stood there looking smug and unrelenting. Being part of the same social circle, Charlotte naturally recognized her.
“Alright, Sophia, tell me why did you hit him?” Charlotte asked.
Sophia finally looked up, her eyes brimming with tears. She sniffled and said, “Charlotte, I hit him, but I wasn’t wrong. I had to.”
Charlotte looked at her, and it reminded her of a younger family member–stubborn and defiant even when feeling wronged.
She had to adopt a serious tone. “If you don’t explain the details, and Mrs. Sampson refuses to settle, you might end up being detained.”
Sophia seemed startled by the warning. Tears streamed down her face, but she held back her sobs, trembling with anger. “He had it coming. If I could, I’d beat him to a pulp!” Charlotte frowned deeply.
Monica immediately jumped in, her voice sharp and shrill. “Madam, did you hear her? This brat just admitted she wanted to kill my son. What are you waiting for? Arrest her right now!”
Charlotte shot her a glance. “Please, Mrs. Sampson, keep quiet.”
Sophia choked on her words, her voice trembling. “You were the ones who hit my sister first. Yvette’s face is swollen because of you.
“You broke into our house when my family wasn’t home. You beat up my sister and called her a tramp and a curse. All of you ganged up on her. When I tried to stop you, you shoved me. What was I supposed to do–just stand there?”

Her expression was resolute as she recounted the events, tears streaming down her face. Yet, she refused to admit fault, became the firmly b was right.
As she spoke, Charlotte’s gaze shifted to Yvette, whose lace was partially hidden by her hair. Her sharp eyes then swept over Monica and Kenn
Monica’s eyes widened in disbelief. “You’re lying! We never hit anyone or pushed you!” Even Yvette looked stunned.
Sophia raised her chin, confronting her head–on. “You didn’t hit Yvette? You didn’t call her a tramp, a curse? Look at her face–it’s swollen like a pigs head!
“If you keep denying it, we can go for a medical examination. There’s evidence under your fingernails.”
Monica froze at the mention of evidence, instinctively lowering her hands.
Sophia stood up, wiping her tears away. Her gaze was firm as she looked at Charlotte. “I called the cops, and now I’m pressing charges against her and her son for breaking into our house and attacking us! What I did was self–defense, wasn’t it?”
People in the room all fell into silence.
Monica was completely stunned. She shook her head frantically, her voice trembling. “No, that’s not what happened. It was her…” But before she could finish, Kevin grabbed her hand, cutting her off.
Kevin glared at Sophia, his frustration boiling over. He realized now that she had planned everything from the start. She’d clearly thought this through before hitting him, which was why she had the nerve to call the cops and turn the tables on him.
Seeing Sophia’s unwavering stance, Monica finally felt a chill of fear creep in.
She had thought hitting Yvette wasn’t a big deal, but now that it had escalated to trespassing and assault, the situation had taken a much more serious
turn.
Fear gripped Monica’s heart, especially with her husband still locked up in prison. The consequences could be disastrous.
Monica said, “I didn’t! Yvette is my adopted daughter. I went to see her, and there was just a small misunderstanding. We had a bit of an argument, but we didn’t…”
Panic overtook Monica, and she became utterly flustered. Desperate, she turned to Yvette for help. “Yvette, say something! Help me! We raised you for so
would you?” many years and you wouldn’t really sue us,
Kevin didn’t say a word but looked at Yvette with pleading eyes.
Yvette slowly raised her head, her swollen and bruised face coming into full view. The sight left everyone stunned, their breaths catching in disbelief.
At that moment, no one doubted Sophia’s words. She was just a younger sister protecting her elder sister, forced to act in self–defense.
“Let’s just drop this,” Yvette finally spoke, her voice soft and hesitant.
