Chapter 67
The loud noise rang out as the guardian’s hand hit her granddaughter’s face.
Scratching someone’s car could be seen as just a childish mistake. But if it was done on purpose as revenge, that was a whole different things.
The guardian said, “You little brat. Your parents work so hard for money, and now you’ve done this for some celebrity? You”
Before she could finish, she fainted and fell to the ground.
The officers on the scene quickly called for an ambulance to take her away.
Sophia didn’t care if the fainting was real or not. She turned to the other guardian and said, “I know your kid was misled, but I’m not taking the blame. My lawyer will take it from here.”
Sophia didn’t worry about it any further. She thought if the guardian was wise, she’d know what to do next.
“I’ll drive you home, Sophia,” Charlotte said, her expression mixed. She knew that the sweet girl in front of her wasn’t as sweet as she seemed.
Sophia looked at her and smiled softly. “Okay.”
Once in the car, Charlotte gave her a bottle of water. Sophia sipped it and asked, “Charlotte, do you think I was wrong?”
Charlotte tightened her grip on the steering wheel. She didn
expect Sophia to ask her that.
“I don’t know,” Charlotte said. Thinking about the issues in her own family, she forced a wry smile. “You’re the victim here.”
Sophia paused, her hand freezing mid–turn on the bottle cap. She suddenly laughed. “Charlotte, I thought you’d try to talk me out of it.”
Charlotte glanced at her. “Cops are human too, Sophia. We also tend to protect the people we care about,” she said.
Sophia’s smile grew warmer. “Charlotte, let me buy you dinner. You pick the
spot.”
Charlotte chose a simple restaurant. After they ordered, she asked, “School starts soon. Which university will you attend?”
“Jelasburg University, Computer Science,” Sophia answered.
Charlotte nodded. “That’s a great choice.”
Sophia rested her chin on her hands, grinning. “Charlotte, do you know James?”
Charlotte paused. “Our families are pretty close. We basically grew up together.”
Sophia absentmindedly tapped her cheek, then smirked. “He was staring at you earlier. He looked totally into you.”
Charlotte almost choked, her face going red. “Don’t say that.”
Sophia shrugged. “I’m not just making this up.” She leaned in, her eyes sparkling with mischief. “Charlotte, if you like him, go for it.”
Charlotte stared at her, speechless.
Sophia noticed her reaction and pouted. “If you like him, hold on to him. If you don’t like him later, just dump him.”
Charlotte frowned, realizing Sophia’s view was a bit off. “That might work for stuff, but not for people.”
Sophia tilted her head, puzzled. “Why not? As long as you’re happy. Charlotte, if you like him, I can help you.”

Chapter 67
Charlotte couldn’t help but smile. And how do you plan to help me?”
Sophia shrugged. “I’ll just kidnap him and bring him to you.”
Charlotte’s eyes widened in shock “Sophia, do you know how crazy that sounds?”
Sophia blinked innocently, a playful smile forming. “I’m just joking.”
Charlotte breathed out, shaking her head. “You really scared me for a moment. But honestly, I don’t like him.”
Sophia raised an eyebrow but kept quiet.
Thinking Sophia might actually act on her joke, Charlotte quickly added, “Our families are close, and we grew up together. If there were any feelings, we’d have been together ages ago.”
“Really?” Sophia asked calmly, but a small smile betrayed her disbelief.
In her previous life, Sophia spent ten years stuck in a hospital bed, unable to move. Every day, her caregiver turned on the TV, and James’s face appeared
often.
James came from a family involved in law. His grandfather was a big name in the courts, and his family all worked in that field.
His family owned a well–known law firm, and soon, James would be known as one of the best in law.
He started as a civil lawyer but switched to criminal law two years later.
People said that the tragic death of Charlotte, who died while catching a criminal, made him change paths. From then on, James became a fierce opponent of crime, frightening criminals everywhere.
Even by the time of Sophia’s passing, she had never heard of James getting married.
After they finished eating, the two walked out together. Sophia suddenly asked, “Charlotte, can I visit you at the station sometime?”
Charlotte replied, “Sure, but if I get busy, I might not have time for you.”
Sophia smiled sweetly. “That’s fine.”
Charlotte reached out and patted Sophia’s head.
Charlotte parked her car at the mall across the street. As they walked over, Sophia saw Vicky heading towards the parking lot.
