Evander messed up Dorian’s hair and said quietly, “Stop asking.”

Dorian blinked his big, innocent eyes. “Evander, don’t you want to know?”

Evander looked at Sophia with an apologetic smile. “Sorry, Ms. Chandler. Dorian gets a bit curious.”

Sophia thought, ‘Dorian looks like someone who revels in disaster‘

Clearing her throat, she tried to sound serious. “Evander, aren’t you curious about the secrets in your family?”

The crowd went curious. Dorian beamed. “What kind of drama? A runaway bride with a secret baby? A fake heiress fighting against the real one? Or

maybe someone is back for revenge? Tell us.”

Sophia thought, ‘Dorian is clearly watching too many soap operas.‘

Evander sighed, feeling frustrated. “Dorian, stop.”

Dorian’s big, shiny eyes sparkled with excitement. “But Evander, isn’t it interesting?”

The crowd couldn’t help but nod. It did sound pretty interesting.

Sophia never expected to be in this kind of situation. She felt like she had met her match.

Seeing Sophia’s silence, Dorian pushed on eagerly. “Sophia, what is it?”

Sophia hesitated, looking unsure. “I’m not sure this is the right place to talk about that.”

Dorian said, “Evander, just pay so we can hear it. Come on–I want our family gossip.”

Sophia couldn’t help but grin. Dorian was something else.

Evander quickly held him back. “We’ll talk later.”

“But-” Dorian started to argue.

Evander cut him off. “You’ve already added her. What’s the rush?“/

Only then did Dorian finally calm down.

Sophia felt great as she got to the ruby auction. She thought there would be competition, but to her surprise, everyone got quiet after her bid. In the end, she easily got the ruby she wanted.

As she was about to leave, Lucinda called out, “Ms. Chandler.”

Sophia turned to see Lucinda coming closer with a box. “Mrs. Finch,” she greeted warmly.

Lucinda smiled and handed her the box. “We only met briefly at the party. Running into you again seems like fate. Please, take this and see if you like it,

Ms. Chandler.”

Sophia looked at her, feeling a bit mixed up. She thought, ‘Do the Wilders always give gifts when they meet people?‘

“Thank you, Mrs. Finch,” Sophia said as she took the box.

Lucinda didn’t stick around, leaving with Odette beside her. As they walked away, Odette hesitated, clearly wanting to say something to Sophia. Finally, all she managed was a soft “Goodbye“.

Sophia smiled and replied, “Goodbye.”

“Sophia,” A cheerful voice called as Dorian bounded over, holding a painting. He pushed it into her hands. “This is for you.”

Sophia blinked at him. “What do you want?”

Dorian shook his head earnestly, his face full of mischief. “This is a gift. I still need to pay for gossip–I know the rules.”

The crowd, hoping for more drama, stood awkwardly. Apparently, they were the ones who didn’t follow the rules.

Sophia laughed. “If you’re curious about your family secrets, just message me.”

Happy with her reply, Dorian grinned and dragged Evander away. Sophia looked at the crowd and grinned. “Come on, finding out your own family’s dirt is way more fun than snooping on others.”

Her words hit hard, and the crowd hurried off. Sophia thought, ‘Stingy.’

Before leaving, Sophia made a quick stop at the restroom. When she came out, she spotted Jerome with his back to her, tangled up with Maelis. Not thinking much, she headed toward the taxi ahead.

Out of nowhere, something rushed at her. Instinctively, she swung the baseball bat she had, landing a solid hit. A muffled groan followed, “Sophia, are you out of your mind?”

Sophia turned to see Jerome lying on the ground, his face twisted in anger. She burst out laughing, walked over, and kicked him again. “You knew I was crazy, yet you still came over? Are you dumb?”

Jerome tried to get up, but her kick sent him back down. He couldn’t believe this delicate–looking girl could hit so hard. He was sure his leg might snap.

“Sophia,” Jerome growled, his voice shaking with anger. “Don’t test my patience.”

Sophia snorted. “I need to act tough when I meet a jerk like you.”

“Jerome, are you alright?” Maelis rushed over, her face full of concern. She glared at Sophia, looking both angry and protective.

She said, “Jerome likes you so much. Why did you hit him?”

It only took Sophia a moment to realize Jerome was trying to use her to get out of Maelis’s focus, which was a sneaky move.

Sophia said, “Jerome loves it when I hit him. You saw it just now. If you want him to like you, just hit him. The harder, the better‘

Maelis looked entirely confused. “Really?”

Jerome suddenly felt a chill down his spine. He opened his mouth to object, but before he could say anything, Sophia stomped on him again, leaving him too pained to talk.
