Reborn to Burn Them All novel Chapter 9

Chapter 9

For three whole days straight, the Lynn family’s scandal was all over the trending lists on every single platform. The whole online world was going crazy with all the latest updates about what was going on with Zane.

Stores, both online and brick–and–mortar, started pulling products from the Lynn family off their shelves. A bunch of netizens even took it upon themselves to file reports with the authorities, demanding a full–blown investigation.

In just those three short days, a big, publicly traded company watched its stock value go up in smoke to the tune of billions. Now, it was hanging by a thread, on the very edge of going belly–up.

Sophia had holed up in her room, only emerging for meals. That

morning, she trudged downstairs, yawning, and overheard Heather on the phone.

Heather said in an unhappy voice, “Forget that party fiasco. Who knows why she snapped?”

The voice on the other end muttered something. Heather snorted, “She offended the Sheltons, the Lynns, and the Foleys. Luckily, the Lynns had their own mess. Otherwise, they’d have crushed her.

“We told her to apologize, and she even threatened us. When’s she gonna act her age? Thinks she’s a grown–up? Fine. If she’s so tough, let her survive without family money. I’m done coddling her.”

Sophia snorted, pulled out a chair, and sat.

Heather froze, a chill crawling up her spine. She hung up, feigning calm. “Almost noon, and you’re just up? About the Lynns–you got lucky. Once they tie up loose ends, they’ll crush you.” She smirked.

Sophia didn’t flinch. She was hungry.

“Wait for Yvette and Howard,” Heather snapped at the maid, frowning. “No serving meal yet.”

The maid nodded. Heather paid her, after all.

Sophia glared at Heather, stood, and marched to the kitchen. She piled her plate.

“I told you-” Heather started.

Sophia slammed her fork. “Eat or leave.”

Heather’s mouth snapped shut. Under Sophia’s glare, she backed down.

Sophia ate quietly while Heather took a call from Howard. He mentioned he was out with Yvette. “Set the table,” Heather told the maid.

Sophia paused mid–bite, squinting thoughtfully. Howard and Yvette were probably at the entertainment company hammering out a contract.

Howard had debuted at 18, signed with a label, and joined a reality show this summer–Live With Family, filmed at home, showing his family life.

Thinking about her experiences, Sophia snapped her fork.

Heather jumped, eyeing Sophia’s icy glare. “Yvette and Howard are grabbing outside,” she whispered.

Sophia didn’t look up. “Bring me another fork,” she told a maid.

Just then, Jonathan and Sean walked in, both looking grim. Heather grabbed Jonathan’s jacket and asked, “What happened?”

Jonathan stared at Sophia, who kept eating, his expression unreadable.

Sean, though, zeroed in on her. “How’d you know about the Shelton, Lynn, and Foley drama?”

Sophia raised an eyebrow. “Curious?”
