Ironhead had long felt contempt toward Lincoln. Back in Eastland, few dared to challenge him. But since arriving here, Lincoln had crossed him more than once, fuelling his anger.
Even if he didn't kill Lincoln that day, Ironhead was determined to make it clear to him that he was not one to be messed with.
Glancing at the terrified Shaun, Ironhead spoke with disdain. "He's just an old fool. What's the big deal if he dies? Mr. Baxter, I advise you to think carefully about who you owe your position and your life right now to."
Shaun, fearing any confrontation with Ironhead, quickly flashed a flattering smile. "Mr. Ironhead, I owe everything to my godfather. I understand that. Rest assured, I will never betray him.
"But could you please put Lincoln down? He can't die. Otherwise, his followers will be furious, and things will get really messy.
"Mr. Ironhead, it's a critical time for Gregory right now, and we can't have anything go wrong. Don't you agree? Please, put Lincoln down. I'm begging you."
If Lincoln were to die, no one would be left to keep Shaun in check. Plus, with Archie missing and the unusually sudden death of Lincoln, people would begin to notice that something was wrong.
If that happened, Shaun's position as the head of the family would be uncertain, and he'd barely be able to show himself publicly with all the rumors and condemnation he'd face.
Ironhead looked at Shaun and chuckled coldly. "Fine. I'll spare him today as a courtesy to you. But if he dares to challenge me again, I won't show any mercy next time."
With that, Ironhead released his grip on Lincoln's neck. Lincoln instantly collapsed to the ground, clutching his throat and gasping for air, but his eyes still burned with hatred as he glared at Ironhead.
