The price of betrayal (Jack and Ashley) novel Chapter 401

Mad Dog sat on the sofa, watching Liana approach slowly. His brows furrowed ever so slightly.

As a renowned powerhouse under Gregory's command, he had seen his share of danger. Yet this time, he felt a chilling, palpable killing intent. Liana's swift and decisive strike earlier had been enough to put him on edge.

"Go, deal with her!" he barked.

No questions were asked—none were needed. Liana's actions spoke for themselves: she was an enemy.

Over a dozen of Mad Dog's subordinates surged forward.

But Liana merely smiled—a wicked, almost predatory curve of her lips. She continued her measured steps, raising her long blade steadily until it was level with her shoulder.

A flash of cold light followed.

Within the encirclement of a dozen men, Liana's figure blurred, her movements as swift as they were ghostly. She slipped through their attacks like smoke, her silhouette impossible to pin down.

And yet, every time she moved, a scream echoed through the rain-soaked street.

In less than ten seconds, it was over.

The dozen men lay sprawled in pools of blood. Some were missing limbs; others lay lifeless with their throats slashed. A few didn't even have the chance to cry out before death claimed them.

Liana stood among the carnage, her black raincoat now soaked in crimson.

Blood splattered her face, lending her the appearance of a demon risen from the depths of hell.

The street was eerily quiet. Thunder rumbled in the distance, and the rain pattered steadily, mingling with the faint, lingering cries of the fallen. The only other sound was Liana's deliberate footsteps.

Mad Dog's remaining subordinates stood frozen. Hardened criminals might be accustomed to violence and brutality, but even they couldn't suppress their fear.

Liana's combat prowess was on a level far beyond theirs.

Finally, Mad Dog rose from the sofa, his calm facade shattered. He shoved aside the subordinates holding umbrellas for him, grabbed his long blade, and began to approach Liana slowly.
