The price of betrayal (Jack and Ashley) novel Chapter 414

Liana and Niall had endured enough in the family. If Nolan could live freely, happily, and comfortably, it would be a small solace for her.

When the door opened, it revealed none other than Nolan.

Liana quickly pulled Nolan aside and whispered, "No matter what Mom and Dad say, just apologize and admit your mistakes, got it?"

Nolan nodded at her words.

From the moment he didn't come home last night, he knew exactly what he would have to face today.

Megan wasn't going to miss this opportunity to make trouble for him.

Sure enough, as soon as he stepped through the door, he saw Megan crying, tears still streaking her face.

When did Megan become so good at crying? Watching her put on this act was exhausting even for Nolan.

Before Nolan could say a word, Wayne beat him to it furiously. "Where were you last night? Why didn't you come home?"

Nolan looked at Wayne and smiled. "'Didn't come home' is inaccurate to describe the situation. Megan and I are already divorced. Even if we're trying to reconcile, we haven't remarried. Living together wouldn't be appropriate, would it?

"Dad, you're the one who values propriety and decency the most. Saying something like that doesn't seem right now, does it?"

Wayne was infuriated that Nolan had the guts to lecture him.

"You insolent brat! Do you think you're like everyone else? You and Megan were once married. Even if you're divorced now, reconciling means you could become a married couple again at any time. Don't give me any of your nonsensical excuses. Answer me, where were you last night?"
