The price of betrayal (Jack and Ashley) novel Chapter 422

Kara's eyes filled with tears as she choked out, "Uncle George, isn't there any other way? Why do we have to donate just because Nolan demands it? This is so tyrannical! Why should we listen to them?"

George let out a bitter laugh. "Kara, you're too young to understand. Right now, we have no choice. If we don't comply, we won't just lose the house—we might lose our lives."

Hearing this, Kara clenched her fists in anger. "Nolan owes Audrey her life. If we expose this, he won't dare treat us like this. But Audrey refuses to let us tell anyone."

George's eyes lit up at her words. "Explain this to me in detail. Don't leave anything out."

Kara immediately recounted everything she knew. The more George listened, the brighter his eyes became. When she mentioned that Megan had used this life-saving debt to win Nolan's affection, his expression darkened with rage.

"Megan, that vile woman! She's inhumane! She ruined Audrey's good match and sabotaged our relationship with Nolan twice. She's the reason things have spiraled out of control!

"No, Nolan has to know the truth. This might be our only chance to survive," George declared, already preparing to leave.

Kara hesitated. "Uncle George, are you sure about this? If Audrey finds out, she'll be upset."

George snorted in frustration. "At this point, who cares if she's upset? Besides, she's been foolish to keep this hidden for so long. In normal circumstances, I might have let it go, but now? She should've told him ages ago!

"If she won't say it, I will! The truth must come out. Nolan needs to know about the Weiss family's kindness. It's a debt that must be acknowledged!"

Without another word, George rushed out the door, jumped into his car, and sped away.
