The price of betrayal (Jack and Ashley) novel Chapter 426

Nolan nodded slightly and waved his hand, signaling to George that he could leave.

However, George hesitated, fidgeting slightly, as though something else weighed on his mind.

"Anything else?"

George forced a polite smile, his voice cautious. "Mr. Greene, regarding the donation, could you possibly show some leniency? If we donate at the proposed level, my family will truly be left with nothing."

He continued, his tone pleading, "Mr. Greene, I beg you, for Audrey's sake. With all the devotion she has shown you, please give us another chance. Spare us this time, would you?"

Hearing George's desperate plea, Nolan remained silent for a moment. He couldn't bring himself to say much more. Treating this as repayment for Audrey's kindness, he finally let out a faint sigh.

Turning to Archie, he spoke calmly, "Mr. Baxter, waive the Weiss family's donation."

Archie, not daring to object, gave a quick nod, "Yes, Mr. Greene."

Nolan shifted his gaze back to George, his expression cold. "Mr. Weiss, I suggest you stop looking down on others in the future. This time, you're excused from the donation, but you've also lost an opportunity to do something meaningful. Think carefully about your choices. If you continue this behavior, not even Audrey will be able to shield you next time."

Relief visibly softened George's tense expression. He thanked Nolan profusely and quickly left the Baxter residence under Archie's escort.

When Archie returned, he immediately noticed something unusual about Nolan. The usually composed man carried a flicker of unease, as though something weighed on his mind.
