The price of betrayal (Jack and Ashley) novel Chapter 464

At that moment, Wayne felt a deep sense of sorrow and despair. His fury intensified when he saw Melody and Liana being pushed by the crowd down below and pelted with vegetables.

"Niall, bring the rest of our family up here! If they want to kick us out of the family registry for being the 'bad guys,' so be it! Let's show them who the real bad guys are!" After that, he turned to Nolan and said in a low voice, "Nolan, I support you. Do whatever you need to do."

Hearing this, Nolan gave a slight nod and quietly said, "Dad, I'm sorry to have disappointed you."

Wayne shook his head forcefully, and in a voice tinged with anger, said, "I'm not disappointed. Even if I were, it wouldn't be because of you. You're a good kid, and I was the one who misunderstood you. But from now on, I will stand with you no matter what."

There was a brief flash of sadness in Nolan's eyes as he watched Melody being helped onto the stage with bits of vegetables and eggs still clinging to her. He bowed slightly and said softly, "Mom, I'm sorry to have caused you trouble."

With red-rimmed eyes, Melody shook her head gently. "I'm fine. I know you're just trying to do the right thing. It's those people who don't understand you. Just know that I trust you, Nolan. So, just do what you feel is right."

At that moment, it seemed as if everyone was turning their backs on Nolan. Yet his family remained unwavering, standing firmly by his side. Any tension that had existed between Wayne and Nolan also melted away silently.

Just then, Ben waved his hand and calmly said, "Folks, folks, don't get so worked up! And stop smashing things around! After all, each of those things costs money, and smashing it is such a waste."

The crowd slowly stopped what they were doing. Seeing this, Ben smiled with satisfaction. This was the outcome he had been aiming for.
