The price of betrayal (Jack and Ashley) novel Chapter 467

Soon, the Greene family's memorial plaque and the family registry were brought out and placed on the stage.

As Wayne's gaze landed on the memorial plaque and family registry, his face became drained of color, turning ghostly white. Though he had spoken with such conviction earlier, now that the moment of expulsion had arrived, his heart trembled with fear and pain.

In all of history, only those who had committed unforgivable sins were cast out from the village, and Wayne had never imagined that he would find himself in this position. Melody clutched Wayne's arm tightly, as if afraid he might collapse under the weight of the situation.

At that moment, Ben nodded respectfully at the memorial plaque and launched into a long speech, listing all the supposed ways that Nolan and his family had disrespected their ancestors, mistreated their kin, and committed countless unforgivable offenses.

Afterward, he began calling out the names, preparing to expel each member of Nolan's family one by one. Through it all, Nolan stood there, coldly observing.

Everyone had expected Nolan and his family would cause a scene, but instead, Nolan simply allowed their names to be crossed out on the family registry. It was a quiet, almost anticlimactic moment that left the crowd stunned.

"Nolan, the names of you, your father, and your brother have now been expelled from the clan. You are no longer members of the Greene family. Next, we'll expel your mother, your sister-in-law, your brother-in-law, and your wife."

With that, Ben began reading the names aloud. When Megan's name was called, she simply smiled softly and said nothing. For her, whether or not her name appeared on the family registry meant nothing at all.

However, when the names of Tyler and Sharon were called, both of them immediately erupted in frantic protests.

"No! I don't want to be expelled from the family registry! Their crimes have nothing to do with us!" Tyler shouted from down the stage, his voice raw with panic. "Mr. Stutton! Mr. Gallant! It's Nolan and his father who've committed unforgivable sins—this has nothing to do with us! Please, don't expel us!"

At the same time, Sharon, clutching her swollen belly, wailed in distress, "That's right! It's their mistakes, not ours! Please, don't throw us out! Mr. Stutton, you have to understand—we're not like Nolan and his family!"
