The price of betrayal (Jack and Ashley) novel Chapter 489

Nolan's words came from the heart. For his family, he was willing to do anything.

Niall looked at Nolan and gave a firm nod. "I want to keep Sharon alive for now. I know the child isn't mine, but since she keeps lying, let's do a paternity test. Once the results come in, we'll see what excuse she has left to make."

Nolan nodded. "It's all up to you."

He waved his hand, and immediately, Sharon was escorted away to be kept under guard.

Niall remained silent for a moment before saying, "Her family deserves to die too! They've taken what doesn't belong to them, and I'm going to make them pay it all back with interest!"

Nolan nodded. "We can strip them of everything and leave them begging on the streets. Everything will be as you wish. Niall, I've already arranged for men to follow your orders; they're ready to act on a moment's notice.

"You can handle everything as you see fit, so go forth boldly. Like I said before, if the sky falls, I'll hold it up for the whole family. What's more, the sky won't fall!"

At that moment, no one doubted Nolan's words.

With most matters settled, Nolan turned to Wayne and Melody and said softly, "Mom, Dad, there's nothing more to discuss here. Let me handle the rest. There's no reason for us to stay any longer. Let's go."

Leaving their hometown was painful, but this time, Wayne and Melody's hearts had been shattered by it. They had grown up here, and nearly every villager was somehow connected to them. But what was the outcome?

They had done no wrong, yet they were pelted with rotten vegetables and eggs, cursed with venomous words, and even had their names erased from the family registry. Who wouldn't be heartbroken? Who wouldn't be devastated?
