The price of betrayal (Jack and Ashley) novel Chapter 621

Malcolm's home was now heavily guarded.

Though everyone in the Eastern State knew that at this moment, there wasn't a single person who could stand against Nolan—let alone dare to offend him—the security remained as tight as ever.

Sitting on the sofa, Nolan smiled faintly at Pierce, who had walked in. "Didn't you stay back to help Harper handle things?"

Pierce shook his head. "She's a real stubborn one. Once she makes up her mind, no one can change it. She wouldn't let me help even if I tried. Mr. Greene, thank you again for sparing her life."

Before Nolan could respond, Scarlet—who stood nearby—chuckled and said, "Pierce, you do realize keeping Harper alive is like creating your own worst enemy, right? And Mr. Greene was the one who had taken that risk for you."

Pierce nodded. "I know. That's why I will never allow Mr. Greene to suffer even the slightest harm. If Harper wants to hurt him, she'll have to step over my dead body first!"

Nolan believed him, as did Scarlet. There was no need for further proof. If it came from Pierce's mouth, it was as good as a vow carved in stone.

Scarlet gave him a teasing smirk. "Pierce, honestly, Harper's quite good-looking, and she's got a great figure too. Sure, she's got a fiery temper, but that just makes her even more perfect for you. So, why not find an opportunity to make her yours? Wouldn't that solve all your problems? Hahah—"

However, before Scarlet could finish laughing, a murderous glint flashed across Pierce's eyes. In an instant, he had already grabbed Scarlet by the throat and lifted him off the ground with one hand.

"Scarlet, I'm sparing you out of respect for Mr. Greene. But if you run your mouth like that again, I guarantee you won't get off easy next time."
