Lyra gathered everyone in the community hall to start discussions on how to go forward with the pack's reconstruction. She emphasised the fact that everybody had a role to play, and that they would all work together to rebuild the pack back to its previous state.
She announced that those currently living in the territory of the former Blue Night Pack would be included, and that together they would rebuild a bigger and stronger pack.
“How are we going to get that done?” one of the pack members asked. “We don’t even have enough food, let alone building materials to repair the destroyed buildings. It's impossible to work in such conditions.”
Those around him agreed, with many complaining that it was impossible to start rebuilding right away when the effects of the attack were still so widespread.
“I'm aware of all the shortages we are facing,” Lyra said. “That's why I need all of you to come together so that we can get things done. We need all types of skills, and I'm sure we have people who are capable in various sectors among us. We'll have a group whose sole responsibility is hunting for food, while another group works as caretakers to make sure everybody has what they need. Those with technical skills will help with the repairs, and others can take care of menial tasks here and there. As long as everybody does their part well, no one will need to worry about what to eat or where to sleep at night.”
The members agreed with Lyra's plan, and some began volunteering for various tasks. Lyra was confident that once they divided everyone by their skills and capabilities, there would be enough workers for every sector.
When Lyra asked if anyone else had a pressing issue, another member stood up. “Many of us are afraid of another attack,” she said. Those around her mumbled in agreement. “Some are even considering seeking refuge in neighbouring packs. We all want to rebuild our pack, but we have already lost enough. To protect our lives, we are willing to leave everything behind.”
“I understand your concern,” Lyra told her. “Let me reassure all of you, the security of this pack is my first priority. I'm putting together a security system that will ensure that nobody can breach our borders without notice. We've been repairing and stocking the guards posts since yesterday, and I've deployed enough sentries to ensure we are guarded throughout the day and night. Any alerts will come to me directly, and I'll respond to them immediately. You can rest assured that no one will be able to disrupt our efforts now that I'm here.”
“I told you,” another female said, turning to the other members. “If you had seen her wolf, you would not be doubting her ability to keep us safe. No one will dare cross our borders as long as she is here.”
“If there's nothing else,” Lyra said, “Beta Rick will start registering the people who can start repairing homes so that you can go back to them as soon as possible.”
Rick stepped up to Lyra and lowered his voice, “There's one problem. For a while now, the pack's finances have not been great. We might not be able to handle all the costs of rebuilding.”
“That’s why we are doing this as a community,” Lyra said. “We'll do what we can by ourselves, and everything will be alright. Those who don't have to take care of repairs will take care of food for everyone, and those who don't have to take care of our food will take care of the injured. Everybody gives something and receives something in return. This is the only way we can rebuild as soon as possible without putting the strain on just a small group of people.”
Rick nodded, realising that Lyra's plan was the best for their situation. Devon had not been the most efficient leader, which meant that even the smallest issues on the pack always took forever to solve. It was awe-inspiring to see Lyra handle such a huge crisis so confidently and smoothly.
