The Ruthless Lycan King Fell For His Slave Mate novel Chapter 80

Lyra left her hiding spot and rushed towards the cell. The door was not locked, so she pushed it aside and hurried inside right away.

“Julian!” she shouted his name, taking his attention away from Anna. As soon as he turned from Anna and to her, she stomped towards him. “What the hell do you think you are doing?”

Lyra thought he would engage her, but to her surprise, he lurched forward to attack her. She had not expected such a reaction from him–first, maybe surprise that she was there. Why would he attack her?

Because he caught her in surprise, Lyra did not react in time, and he was able to punch her, sending her reeling backwards and crashing into the cell's metal bars.

Lyra touched her jaw and looked at him with unbelieving eyes. “What's wrong with you?” she demanded.

“Lyra!” Zero shouted her name. “You should leave!”

Leave? No. She would not leave until she saved the two of them.

Julian rushed towards her again, but Lyra stepped aside and moved away from him. He went after her right away, and the two of them crashed against the wall.

“Be careful!” Zero yelled at her. “He has gone fucking crazy.”

Lyra was inclined to believe that. Julian was attacking her ferociously, as if he wanted to kill her. She could chalk up his treatment towards Zero and Anna to a misunderstanding, but why the hell was he attacking her like this? Was he out of his mind?

“This is not Julian!” Rae told her urgently.

“What do you mean?” Lyra asked.

“I cannot sense him at all,” Rae told her. “He looks like him, but it's not him.”

“Has he been bewitched like Devon?” Lyra asked.

“No, this is different. This is someone else, not Julian. I'm certain!”

While conversing with Rae, Lyra was doing her best to fend off Julian's attacks while trying to not harm him seriously. If Rae was right, then it all made sense. She couldn't think of a reason why Julian would attack her so ferociously as soon as he saw her.

Trusting Rae’s judgement, she changed her tact. Rather than try to communicate to him through her mind–which was fruitless even at such proximity–she started using her mental power to control him.
