Aiden Finnegan's Medical Odyssey novel Chapter 24

When Aiden heard that, he couldn't help but sneer in secret. He never dared imagine that his mother-in-law would talk so kindly to him someday. The world was changing along with the people in it. At the moment of his return, everything had changed.

"Hello." Aiden smiled as he stuck out a hand at the well-dressed man.

"Hello." The man bowed slightly as he shook Aiden's hand with both hands. Aiden's title as the Webb Family's benefactor was significant enough that even if the man couldn't be on good terms with Aiden, he mustn't offend the latter.

Essentially, Aiden was depending on the Webb Family's reputation at the moment. He was a little unaccustomed to having to depend on someone else's reputation all of a sudden, but such was the way of the world. It was just a slight discomfort, and he got used to it quickly.

"This is my name card. I hope we can work together in the future, Mr. Finnegan," the man said with a smile.

"Sure." Aiden nodded lightly.

Events like this didn't allow for much casual talk. The gatherings of the upper-class society were for establishing connections instead of making friends. The well-dressed man was a social butterfly, for he quickly struck up a decent conversation with a woman after a quick tour around the area.

Meanwhile, Harvey's face was red in embarrassment as he looked at Aiden. As for Linda, when she met Aiden's gaze, she quickly lowered her head. If Angelina hated Aiden, and the hatred turned into disgust, Linda served as the aggravator for those emotions. Now that her useless son-in-law had made his comeback, Linda was nervous. After all, just a few days ago, she was even thinking of matching Angelina with someone else.

"When we go back, ask Angelina to take you on a shopping trip. Buy some nice clothes so that people won't mock you," Linda said as she looked at Aiden.

She had never bothered about these things before, so her words were a sign that she had surrendered and acknowledged Aiden.

"That won't be necessary!" However, Aiden shook his head instead.

"What do you mean? You have to reconcile after every argument!" Linda said.

Aiden smiled faintly as he replied, "How are we supposed to reconcile when the relationship is barely even there?!"

With that, he turned to look at Angelina. Just as expected, Angelina did not say a word and was fuming instead. She had given Aiden an inch, but he was asking for a mile!

Embarrassment hung on Harvey's and Linda's faces when they heard Aiden's words. Throughout their three years of marriage, Angelina never once allowed Aiden to touch her. Harvey and Linda's silence on the matter played a part as well. Harvey was alright, but Linda had always been unapproving.

Their conversation died after taking an awkward turn. Several guests came over and greeted Aiden, and when Angelina saw how confidently Aiden talked to the others, she acknowledged the man for the first time in forever.

Aiden had truly changed, and he was no longer meek like he was before. Of course, Angelina was most appreciative of the fact that even when his status changed, this man was still reserved and humble.

She wanted Aiden to gain significant achievements, but she didn't want him to let it get to his head either.

"Someone's looking for me; the Webb Family probably has something to say. Let's go home after that," Aiden said calmly as he looked at the three.

Angelina nodded lightly in response. Meanwhile, Lucas was already making his way over to them.

"Mr. Finnegan, Mr. William wishes to see you," Lucas said respectfully while looking at Aiden.

"Alright." Aiden nodded slightly.
