"Stop joking around." Aiden's countenance darkened.
"Can't you take a joke?" Gina pouted before beaming into a smile again. "It's not that much either. I haven't thanked you properly after you saved Arnold. This medical center is for you."
He was about to turn down the offer when she questioned, "If you don't want it, I can pay the medical fees. How much is it?"
He finally caved in at that. Next, she contacted the owner to come over to sign the contract. The old man arrived with a young lady, and upon noticing that it was a youngster, he frowned. "Are you the one planning to take over?"
"Yes." Aiden nodded.
The crease between the old man's brows became deeper. "I'm not selling it."
Gina was displeased at the sudden turn of his attitude. "Why, sir? Is it because you wanna bid a higher price?"
"No. It's because the medical center is a place to save people, not for fun," he explained indifferently.
"What?" She could not understand.
At that moment, Aiden approached the old man with a smile. "Sir, is it because of my age? That I don't look like a doctor?"
"How could I think that of you?" The owner's expression showed otherwise, but Aiden hit the bullseye.
Yesterday, a youngster came in a rush for a furnace and announced his plan to buy out the medical center. He declared he was a miracle doctor, yet the person who came to sign the contract was another young man. How could the old man hold in his ire?
The old man did not wish anyone to trample its name, hence the decision to sell the whole medical center. If it was not for that issue, he would not have ended up making such a decision.
Right when Aiden was going to say something, a woman sprinted into the medical center and stood before the old man. "Are you Mr. Reece Barker?"
"Yes, I am," replied Reece.
"My husband can't hang on any much longer. The doctors from Prime Hospital recommended me here to see if there is any chance of saving him. Please, save him! He's the pillar of our family. What are we gonna do without him?" The woman was all teary at the thought of sick her husband.
"Let me check on him." Reece walked out of the center.
The man on a stretcher had shallow breathing as his eyes were tightly shut. Based on his bad complexion, he was not far from death's door.
Reece lifted the man's eyelids before shaking his head with a frown. "There's nothing I can do for him."
The woman flopped onto the ground as her hollow eyes fixed on the man.
"I'm sorry for your loss." Reece sighed.
Aiden snorted coldly. "Doctors shouldn't jump to conclusions before giving it a shot."
"What did you say?" A delicate yet squeaky voice penetrated the air. It belonged to a girl standing behind Aiden. Her visage was rigid, but her eyes were blazed in fury. Her grandfather had run the medical center for decades, and not even once had he misdiagnosed a patient!
Who is this man? How dare he say that to Grandpa!
"Huh?" Reece was shocked because he was the only one aware of his looming demise. How did Aiden find out about it when his granddaughter did not have the slightest clue? Was it truly because of his skills?
