"You went for another woman the moment we got into a fight!" Angelina shouted.
Aiden sighed. "I think we still have some kinks to work out. I've explained myself. You can interpret it however you want. I stand by the fact that I am innocent."
He had no idea why she flew into a rage all of a sudden. He had explained himself, and he couldn't understand why Angelina wouldn't let it go. He wouldn't mind if they were a normal couple, but they were not. They were only married on paper, and even so, Angelina wouldn't even give him a moment of her time, but now she was trying to control his circle. Aiden thought she was being insecure because she thought he was embarrassing her. He figured she wanted him to revolve around her even if she didn't care about him. Aiden knew it would make the fight worse, but he said it anyway. He had had enough of the years of abuse.
"You think just because you have a business now, you can take that tone with me?" Angelina hissed.
"I am not impatient. You're just unreasonable. You are not exactly my wife. We've never even held hands. What kind of couple has never held hands? You think of me as nothing but your servant. You've never given me a moment of your time and wouldn't even go to any event with me by your side. I know you think lowly of me, but your family means nothing to me. Heck, even the Harpers will have to worship me if they want to survive!" Aiden roared. He could finally do it after all these years of abuse. He huffed while looking at Angelina.
She was shocked. She couldn't believe the subservient Aiden would talk like that to her. A long while later, she said, "Get out."
Aiden left the room and slammed the door shut. Bang!
The slam shocked Linda and Harvey, but Angelina was the one who was shocked the most of them all. That was the first time Aiden took that tone with her.
"Did you fight with my daughter, trash? You uncultured swine! Didn't your parents teach you manners? Or are they dead?" Linda went upstairs, but she froze upon meeting Aiden's gaze.
He was glaring daggers at her. "Are you happy now?"
"W-Why should I?" she stammered. She had never seen him giving her that look. It felt like he would kill her the next moment.
"Don't yell at her! She's right. You're an ingrate!" Angelina opened the door and yelled at Aiden.
"Yeah, I am! You despise me, don't you? If you had been nicer to me, I wouldn't have gone to the riverbank. I wouldn't have run into Gina! If I do cheat on you someday, remember that you forced me into it!" He stormed off to his room, leaving the ladies gawking.
A moment later, Linda screeched, "That blasted ingrate! We're kicking him out this instant!"
Harvey looked at them and sighed.
Angelina returned to her room and slammed the door shut, leaving Linda alone.
"Why are you still standing there? You just had to get between them. Happy now?" Harvey harrumphed and left for his room.
Angelina could still hear Aiden's voice ringing in her head, especially the moment when he told her she was the one who forced him to cheat and that her family meant nothing to him. Am I in the wrong here? She couldn't shake it away, no matter how much she tried.
She was shocked. Did he just refuse my offer? Wait. It can't be… She wore her shoes and quickly left the house, but when she got to the neighborhood's entrance, Aiden was nowhere to be found. She returned to her house and got her car keys before driving away. She wanted to see if it was Gina giving Aiden a ride. To her surprise, he was nearly at the medical center when she caught up to him, and he was looking at something beside him. Did he fly all the way here? All I did was go back for my keys, and he was already all the way there.
Then, she noticed something even more shocking. Aiden wasn't making big strides. He was strolling, and yet he wasn't slow. For some reason, he was fast and slow at the same time. Not too long later, she saw him stopping by a stall.
