Bridget's competence was undeniable. Now that nothing was holding her back, she quickly got everything in order.
"Mr. Ashcroft, the production schedule has been distributed. We can resume operations tomorrow."
She didn't take his help for granted—she made sure to deliver results and sent Daniel the finalized plans.
Daniel glanced at it briefly, set it on the table, and signed his name.
"I trust your work, Ms. Field. I'll have Joshua keep an eye on things tomorrow so you can focus on your own affairs," he said.
"Got it," Bridget replied with a sincere smile.
With a sharp, capable subordinate like her, Daniel's job as general manager was starting to feel like little more than signing off on paperwork.
After work, he met up with Joshua.
"Let Emma take these herbs first. I'm working on the rest, and it won't be long before everything's ready." He handed the herbs to Joshua and had already gone over the instructions in detail.
Joshua's face lit up with excitement. "Got it. Thank you, Mr. Ashcroft."
Daniel didn't say anything else and simply patted his shoulder.
He drove home, and the moment he opened the door, the aroma of food greeted him.
"You're back?" Jennifer peeked out from the kitchen. "Dinner's almost ready. I've been simmering this soup for nearly three hours."
At that moment, she looked like the perfect housewife. It was almost impossible to associate her with her scheming, malicious persona.
But Daniel knew exactly what kind of person she was. He let out a dry chuckle. "Do you really think this act is going to work?"
Jennifer flinched ever so slightly before tucking a loose strand of hair behind her ear. "I don't know what you mean. Just sit down and eat."
She had never lifted a finger in the kitchen. Her hands had always been perfectly manicured. But now, as she tried to play the role of a dutiful wife, she had several fresh cuts on her hands.
