Betrayed, But Not Defeated novel Chapter 117

Early the next morning, Daniel felt refreshed.

But when he thought about what he had done with Charlene last night, he couldn't help but let out a soft sigh. "I have to exercise some control. I can't do this next time."

Last night, Daniel had also heard Jennifer's "schemes" and knew that woman wouldn't stay quiet.

However, he was curious to see what kind of trouble she could stir up.

Either way, she was not at ease, and that made Daniel feel quite good.

"The medicinal ingredients are almost ready. It's time to treat Emma."

Daniel realized that he had been quite busy. But this level of busyness was necessary. If he wanted to be a hands-off boss, he needed capable people he could rely on.

There was no need to worry about Bridget; her business skills were more than enough to keep the company running.

Joshua, however, was someone Daniel genuinely wanted to nurture.

Over the past few days, Emma had recovered to the level of an average child. But Joshua didn't dare to let his guard down.

In fact, he even had some doubts about whether Daniel could actually treat Emma.

Just then, a middle-aged man with a kind smile and glasses pushed the door open and walked in. "Joshua, I'm here to see Emma again!"

Joshua looked up. "Dr. Bennett, what brings you here?"

"Emma and I are quite connected in a way. You haven't brought her for treatment these past few days, so I was a bit worried," Colin Bennett said as he turned to look at Emma.

Emma instinctively took a small step back and lowered her head. "Hello, Mr. Bennett," she said softly.

"Hello, Emma," Colin responded, smiling warmly. He then signaled his assistant, Susan Carter, to set up the medical equipment.
