"Huh? You collected the money?" Colin was momentarily stunned when he heard that, but he quickly realized he had lost his composure.
He immediately put on a different expression and added, "That's wonderful! Joshua, you're a great brother. You're admirable!"
Fortunately, he had prepared a second plan for this visit.
Just then, Susan's panicked voice rang out. "Dr. Bennett, please come here!"
Colin rushed in immediately.
Joshua's expression changed drastically as he followed Colin.
Colin turned grim as he turned to Susan. "What happened?" he questioned.
Susan looked as if she was about to cry as she stammered, "I-I don't know. I was just talking to Emma after removing the equipment. She suddenly became like this!"
Emma's lips were turning purple. She was in a state of oxygen deprivation. Her eyes were shut, and her chest had stopped moving.
Colin hurried forward to perform CPR.
But then the heart monitor let out a long, continuous beep.
It was over.
Joshua's eyes instantly became hollow. He couldn't accept this.
On the other hand, Colin let out a quiet breath of relief, glad his second plan worked.
Even though things had gone exactly as he had predicted, he still pretended to make an effort to resuscitate her before turning to Joshua. "I did my best, Joshua."
"No! This can't happen!" Joshua shoved Colin aside.
A flicker of anger and contempt flashed in Colin's eyes, but he quickly regained his composure.
