Betrayed, But Not Defeated novel Chapter 159

The Crane family's retaliation came swiftly and fiercely. Many people were also secretly fanning the flames behind the scenes.

Daniel wasn't the least bit worried. In fact, it was actually to his advantage that these people had shown themselves.

At the Geller residence, Oscar clutched his chest, his expression cold as he stared at the elderly man in front of him.

Beside him, Ernest Crane fanned himself with a folding fan. "Mr. Geller Senior, can't you take a hint? Everyone knows how kind-hearted you are, so why do you insist on standing by someone who's doomed?"

Oscar scoffed coldly. "You Cranes sure know how to throw your weight around. But we Gellers aren't to be trifled with either!"

Ernest shook his head. "I hate dealing with stubborn old men like you. It's no fun at all, none! But don't you worry—this is just a warning. Tell Daniel that we'll settle the score with him slowly."

He then placed an invitation on the table and left with his men.

Oscar watched them leave before finally letting out a sigh of relief. However, he broke into a violent coughing fit.

Daniel entered the residence just in time to see Oscar coughing so hard that his face had turned red. He quickly stepped forward and slapped him on the back.

Oscar spat out a mouthful of clotted blood and instantly felt better.

"Daniel, you should leave Legate," Oscar said with a bitter smile. "The Crane family isn't going to stop until you're dead."

Daniel shook his head with a smile. "It's not about them not stopping anymore."

Oscar looked at Daniel in surprise.

"Mr. Geller Senior, this matter started because of me. I'll make sure it's resolved," Daniel said solemnly.

Oscar waved his hand. Now that he knew Daniel's stance, he didn't try to dissuade him further.

He began to analyze the situation. "The Crane family is a hidden dynastic family. This time, they're targeting you specifically, so you have to be careful. But they've been hidden for too long and have developed a fixed way of thinking.

"They won't act directly, but Qranross is bound to descend into chaos. This could also be a good opportunity."
