Betrayed, But Not Defeated novel Chapter 227

Leopold's eyes lit up upon hearing those words. He turned around, a hint of surprise flickering across his face as he looked at Daniel.

However, Daniel's conclusion instantly made the other doctors in the room frown.

"Poisoning?" One of the older doctors scoffed, clearly displeased. "Young man, do you have any proof?

"This condition resembles an allergic reaction far more than any kind of poisoning. The only issue is that we haven't yet identified the allergen!"

Several other doctors nodded in agreement, evidently leaning toward the allergy diagnosis.

Daniel couldn't be bothered to explain.

Instead, he strode forward and pressed his finger against the middle-aged man's wrist.

His initial judgment had only been based on observation, but now, with direct contact, everything clicked into place!

It was poison!

"It's a mixed type of toxin," Daniel declared with certainty. "Individually, the two poisons wouldn't be an issue. But together, they trigger this exact reaction."

"What a joke!" The doctor from earlier snorted derisively. "I've been practicing medicine for over thirty years, and I've never seen such a thing.

"Young man, you must have been reading too many novels!"

Alfie leaned in and whispered to Daniel, "That's Derick Wyatt, one of the top dermatologists in the field. He's got a sharp tongue, but he's a big name in the industry."

Even though Alfie kept his voice low, the room was small, and Derick naturally heard every word.

A smug expression crossed his face as he glanced at Daniel out of the corner of his eye as if the young man wasn't even worth his full attention.

"There are plenty of things in the world you haven't seen," Daniel shot back coldly. "But that doesn't mean that they don't exist."

He then turned to the middle-aged man. "Your condition is serious. If we don't act soon, your liver and kidneys could take a hit."

Hearing this, the man's expression shifted dramatically. "I… I need treatment! Please help me! I can't take this anymore!"

Derick frowned. "Mr. Gallagher, the cause of this illness is still uncertain. If we act recklessly, it might get worse. You should think carefully before making a decision."

Think carefully?
