Edward laughed at Daniel's response. "I'll let you in on this—I was actually a barbecue chef! It's all about the charcoal when it comes to it."
He tilted his head, looking at Daniel. "Now that we've eaten and talked, where's the money?"
Daniel pointed toward his car.
Edward gave his underling a look. The underling understood and immediately ran over to open the trunk. However, as soon as the trunk was opened, the underling slowly raised his hand.
Then, a group of men in black rushed in from outside.
Edward furrowed his brows. "Mr. Ashcroft, what does this mean? Blackmail within blackmail?"
"First, I have no ill intentions toward you, and honestly, I didn't want to get involved in this matter. Your timing was just off!" Daniel smiled and shook his head. "Second, you've crossed the line."
He stood up. "I want to know who sent you."
Edward furrowed his brows. "I've already said I just want the money. Everything else has nothing to do with me, and I don't dare to get involved."
"You're an honest man!" Daniel nodded, giving his assessment. "Just a bit dumb. And you're not fit to be involved in Qranross affairs."
He stood up and patted Edward on the shoulder. "Hand over Jennifer, and you and your men can leave Qranross."
Edward furrowed his brows, and seeing that his men had been restrained, he could only shake his head helplessly. "You're something, Mr. Ashcroft. They say don't bite off more than you can chew. I admit defeat today.
"But the money cannot just be written off!" he said as he picked up his phone and dialed his subordinate.
However, the call went unanswered. A sense of unease flashed in Edward's mind as he dialed the number again.
