After Daniel was done informing his parents, he turned and stepped out of the memorial hall.

Outside, Charlene stood in plain mourning attire, watching him emerge.

She quickly approached him. "I had someone make some soup. You should have some."

Daniel glanced at her, then smiled and nodded. "Sure!"

Inside the Obsidian Group headquarters, Maxim sat comfortably in the seat that had once belonged to Omari.

He lazily toyed with a parrot, looking entirely at ease.

Meanwhile, Zidane was clearly unsettled, shifting in his seat and looking visibly frustrated.

"Dad, Daniel clearly has no intention of cooperating. What's your plan?"

Maxim didn't even look up. He just chuckled and replied casually, "You're still too green. Right now, the most important thing is to hold our position and not act recklessly."

Zidane hesitated to speak. He wanted to stay patient, but after dealing with Daniel so many times, he knew exactly what kind of person he was.

"Easy for you to say when you're not the one getting beaten up!" Zidane muttered under his breath.

"You watch your mouth!" Maxim slammed his palm on the table, causing the parrot to take flight in a panic.

He stood up and continued, "Do you know what Obsidian Group is under my control? It's because I'm a master at reaping the benefits after pitching my opponents at each other! Omari and Daniel had a blood feud. Do you think Daniel was ever going to let him live?

"And now, even those above us are starting to realize that Daniel isn't someone they can deal with right now. They need someone else to handle negotiations… And that sure as hell wasn't going to be Omari."

Maxim shot Zidane a knowing glance.

Zidan's eyes widened in realization. "Dad, you mean—"
