Betrayed, But Not Defeated novel Chapter 287

Margaret enjoyed her meal but soon started complaining. "The food is either delicious but has a small portion, or it's absolutely awful! Especially this plate of steamed mussels!"

Daniel barely held back his laughter.

When the dish was brought out, even he was stunned. No one in their right mind would order something like that except for Margaret.

Though she complained about how awful it tasted, she forced herself to eat it. He was impressed that she wouldn't waste even the slightest food.

That was when Cason approached Margaret from behind with his men. "Hey, beauty, got time for a chat?"

Margaret glanced at him and didn't bother responding. Instead, she wiped her mouth and turned to Daniel. "Where are we going next?"

Daniel glanced at the group surrounding them.

Seriously, he'd come to Magden ahead of schedule just to relax and show Margaret around, but trouble just had to get to him.

"Let's check out The Harbor," Daniel said as he got up. He shoved past Cason's men and led Margaret out of the restaurant.

"You f—" One of the men cursed and frowned.

But Cason grabbed his shoulder. "Chill. Let them go."

Daniel shot a cold look at the foul-mouthed thug before walking off with Margaret.

As they left, she curiously tilted her head. "Since when are you so patient?"

"There were too many security cameras in there," Daniel replied with a sneer.

"Knew it." Margaret pursed her lips. Then, her eyes lit up with excitement. "They're after me. Let me handle them!"
