Betrayed, But Not Defeated novel Chapter 49

Upon hearing that, Mason nearly laughed in anger.

An assistant?

What kind of status was that? How could someone like this even deserve to be here?

"The Geller family really operates in ways that go beyond my expectations," Mason sneered dismissively, his tone blatantly disregarding the Geller family.

Then, he flicked his wrist. "Oh no! What's going on with my hand? I think it's out of control!" he said, a flash of mockery flashing in his eyes.

Daniel sidestepped swiftly, avoiding the wine splash. But as he moved, a woman behind Mason let out a surprised cry.

Before Mason could react, the wine spilled down his head.

Mason and everyone else were dumbfounded.

"Ah! Mr. Keaton, I'm so sorry! I didn't mean to!" A panicked voice sounded, followed by a somewhat plump woman hurriedly patting Mason down.

Mason glared at her angrily.

She didn't seem as if she was wiping off the wine but rather, it was as though she was taking advantage of him.

Her appearance made it all the more intolerable for Mason, who cared so much about looks.

"It's fine. I'll go change," Mason said through gritted teeth, his face dark. The Keaton family's butler—Adam Cooper—quickly approached and followed Mason as he left.

"Pfft! He really is unlucky!" Charlene couldn't hold back her laughter.

Daniel nodded in agreement. "Yes. There's nothing to be done. With how handsome Mr. Keaton is, it's only natural that someone can't resist trying to take advantage of him! We can't blame him for that."

However, as he observed the lively atmosphere within the Geller residence, Daniel remarked, "Ms. Geller, this family banquet of yours is quite lively."

At this, Charlene's expression shifted slightly as she grabbed Daniel's hand. "Come on. Let's meet my grandpa. He said he wants to thank you in person tonight."
