Betrayed, But Not Defeated novel Chapter 55

Daniel shook his hand and left the scene, driving back to the villa.

Since it was already late at night, Daniel assumed Charlene would be asleep. However, as soon as he opened the door, he saw her sitting on the couch, swirling a glass of red wine in her hand.

"Why are you drinking?" Daniel asked curiously.

Charlene looked up, her face flushed. "Why are you back so late? Come, give me your jacket."

Charlene walked toward Daniel slowly and took his suit jacket.

Daniel took a deep breath and immediately wrapped his arms around Charlene's waist. "You're playing with fire."

"Is the fire… big?" Charlene's eyes shimmered seductively, her red lips parting slightly.

In such a situation, how could Daniel hold back?

"Ouch! Slow down!" Charlene scolded playfully, though in her heart, she vowed that tonight would be the last time.

She decided to treat it as a reward for Daniel stepping forward to protect her at the Geller family's gathering.

Of course, Daniel could see through her little thoughts. But at this moment, there was no need to think too much about it.

The next morning, Daniel woke up on time and pulled the blanket over Charlene gently.

"This absolutely can't happen again!" Charlene remarked guiltily with her back turned to Daniel.

Daniel just smiled.

Having experienced cultivation in the cultivation world, he knew that while his current strength wasn't at its peak, cultivating was as simple as drinking for him now.

What he lacked was merely spiritual energy.

Moreover, Daniel was very clear about the path he wanted to take next. Instead of tedious cultivation, tempering his state of mind was far more important.
