Betrayed, But Not Defeated novel Chapter 56

Although she was reluctant, Jennifer pursed her lips and tried to persuade, "No matter what, you guys are married. There shouldn't be any lasting resentment between a couple."

"That's not necessarily true," Daniel replied coldly, turning to continue cooking.

Jennifer watched Daniel's busy figure in the kitchen, her heart a mix of fear and resentment. No matter what, Daniel should belong to her. But here he was, cooking for another woman.

Jennifer's heart was filled with jealousy and madness.

This man was hers. When he was behaving like a loyal dog, he was hers. Even now that he wasn't foolish anymore, he was still hers.

Daniel was her possession.

"Dinner is ready," Daniel announced.

Jennifer immediately stood up, but Daniel blocked the kitchen door with a cold expression. "I'm Ms. Geller's assistant now, and I'm responsible for her daily needs. Do you have a problem with that?"

"Ridiculous! You're my husband, and yet you're acting as a personal assistant to my best friend?" Jennifer said incredulously, staring at Daniel before turning her gaze to Charlene.

Charlene pressed her lips together. "Jennifer, I—"

"No need to explain. I don't need to consult anyone when making decisions," Daniel interrupted Charlene before turning back to Jennifer.

"Sorry, I didn't know you were coming, so there's no portion for you. Now eat!"

Daniel's words carried a commanding tone. Charlene glanced at Jennifer and sighed softly.

Jennifer trembled, her eyes fixed on Daniel. "I know you're doing this to get back at me. But you're my husband, no matter what. I won't divorce you! Don't even think about it!"

"As you wish." Daniel smiled.

What kind of logic did Jennifer have? How dare she threaten him? This was ridiculous!

"Just remember that!" Jennifer stomped her foot and ran out the door.

At that moment, her heart was filled with even greater unwillingness to let go.

Charlene sighed softly. "Daniel, about you and Jennifer—"
