Betrayed, But Not Defeated novel Chapter 57

Charlene hung up and rubbed her temples.

Without raw materials, she would be facing a breach of contract with Obsidian Group.

If it weren't for Jonathan hinting that the Keaton family was behind this, she might have thought Obsidian Group was using tactics against her.

After all, once a breach occurred, even if the company went bankrupt, it wouldn't be able to compensate for Obsidian Group's losses.

If Alden were here, he'd probably be crying and begging her on his knees.

He would say, "Miss, you can't just say things like that! Lives are at stake!"

"No wonder the Keaton family is Gimlin's top family," Daniel sneered.

"There's a possibility that this is a direct order from the Keatons. With so many people there last night, there are plenty who would want to show their loyalty to them," Charlene said, recalling the merchants from Qranross who left early.

To be fair, if she had to choose between the Keaton family and the Geller family, she would also choose the Keaton family without hesitation.

The two sides weren't even on the same level.

Daniel glanced at her. "I'll handle this. I saw in the company records that there's still some material stock. Start production with that. Plus, Jennifer has some inventory on her end, right? Move it over. It should buy us some time."

Charlene had been feeling frustrated, but her eyes brightened at Daniel's words.

As long as new materials came in later, the delay wouldn't be too long.

"I'll leave it to you, then," uttered Charlene as he looked at Daniel.

Daniel smiled slightly. "I'm just doing my job. Oh, and don't forget to process my onboarding. I'm still waiting to get paid."

Charlene couldn't help but laugh at his comment. "You're the eldest scion of the Ashcroft family. Are you really relying on a salary to live?"

As soon as she said it, she realized the comment wasn't quite appropriate. After all, most of the Ashcroft family's assets were in Jennifer's hands.
