Betrayed, But Not Defeated novel Chapter 6

Daniel turned around and noticed Charlene, who was wearing a long dress. Her figure was elegant, and her bright eyes were fixed firmly on him.

He sighed inwardly and said, "Don't flatter yourself. I'm here to kill someone. It has nothing to do with you."

Charlene stomped her foot in frustration, her voice aggrieved. "Why are you denying it? Even if you're following me, it's pointless!"

"Get lost!" Daniel snapped impatiently, turning away. "Not only are you cruel and heartless, but you also frequent bars like this. How shameless and debauched!"

Without waiting for her response, he strode into the bar.

"You jerk! Who are you calling debauched? Get back here!" she shouted angrily as she followed him inside.

But Daniel had already disappeared into the crowd by the time she entered.

Furious and trembling, Charlene clenched her fists. Her eyes shimmered with unshed tears of indignation.

She wasn't a cruel person, nor someone who indulged in debauchery. Yet, that scoundrel Daniel had labeled her so harshly!

Inside the bar, exotic dancers danced sensuously on poles. The air was thick with dim lighting and loud music.

Seeing the scene, Charlene blushed and immediately turned her head away, focusing on finding Room B350.

Meanwhile, Daniel had reached the top floor of the bar. He kicked open the door of the most luxurious VIP suite with a loud bang.

The scene inside ignited a raging fire within him, his killing intent flooding the room.

Zak sat on the couch, leisurely smoking a cigar. Across from him was a long-haired woman in her 40s.

The woman looked youthful. Her skin was pale and smooth, and there were glasses perched on her nose. She clearly held a respectable position in society and had a refined demeanor.

However, at this moment, her torn clothes revealed burns and bruises from cigarette butts all over her chest, stomach, and legs.

Her name was Laila Ballard. She had once been the finance director of Ashcroft Group. Now, she trembled all over, her eyes shedding tears of blood.

She pleaded with Zak, her voice shaking, "Please, just kill me. I don't know anything. I swear I know nothing. Please, I beg you. Just end it."

Zak let out a maniacal laugh. "Kill you? That would be too merciful! Even if you're a bit old, I can still sell you to my club for a few more years."

Seeing Zak holding Laila captive and torturing her to the point of near collapse, a surge of anger boiled up within Daniel. Without hesitation, he stepped forward and stood in front of her.

"Ms. Ballard, are you okay?" He took off his jacket and gently draped it over Laila's shoulders.

Laila shivered uncontrollably, her eyes widening in disbelief. "Y-You… Are you Daniel? Mr. Ashcroft's son? Have you recovered? You're not… mentally impaired anymore? Daniel, you must leave! Get out of here quickly!"

"This is perfect!" Zak cackled gleefully, rising from his seat to appraise Daniel. "So, you're Cody Ashcroft's son? That means you must know where your dad hid the genetic longevity formula!"

Daniel's eyes narrowed as realization dawned on him.

"So, you and your father burned down Ashcroft Group and killed so many people just to find this so-called genetic longevity formula?"

Clapping his hands, Zak chuckled smugly. "You're half right. I'm certain your father left the formula with you. Once I catch you, everything will be mine! I'm so lucky! I'm going to make a huge contribution!"

Rage flared in Daniel's eyes. Without warning, he stepped forward and delivered four sharp slaps to Zak's face.
