Betrayed, But Not Defeated novel Chapter 64

"You got hurt? What happened?"

Obviously, Jennifer didn't quite buy Charlene's excuse.

Charlene could only sigh before doing her best to hold in her moans of pleasure. "Today, Zachary and his men trashed my company. By the way, I'll need to rely on your company during the production stage."

"Zachary? As in that scion from the Keaton family?"

Jennifer was surprised. Ever since she got berated by Daniel, she had spent her days cooped up in her own villa.

Now that she heard Charlene's request, she was quick to formulate an idea in her head.

"Alright, but I have one condition."

"What is it?" Charlene asked curiously.

"I want Daniel to be the one in charge of supervising the production process in my company," Jennifer said firmly.

Charlene's first instinct was to turn Jennifer down. But then again, Daniel and Jennifer were still husband and wife—what reason did she have to turn Jennifer down?

"Okay. I'll ask for Daniel's opinion in this matter," she finally agreed.

"Good. How's your injury?" Jennifer changed the subject.

Charlene took a deep breath before turning to look at Daniel. "I need to get it bandaged. Let's continue the conversation tomorrow. I need to deal with my employees too."

"Alright, then. You must convince Daniel to go to my company, okay? Otherwise, don't blame me for not helping you out!"

After those words left Jennifer's mouth, she quickly ended the call for fear that Charlene might go back on her word.

At that moment, Charlene was starting to get exhausted. She put down her phone before turning around to shoot a half-glare at Daniel.

"What were you doing just now?"

"What can I say? You're to be blamed for looking so enticing!" Daniel smiled faintly before scooping Charlene into his arms. "Besides, you were the one who sold me out in the first place!"

"Come on, don't say that." Charlene let out a small sigh. "You two have to sort out your problems at the end of the day."

"It's useless to talk about them now."
