Daniel didn't give a direct answer. He neither confirmed nor elaborated.
Zephyr took a deep breath. "I see. Looks like this is something only you can handle."
Before the conversation could continue, the screech of brakes came from outside.
Daniel frowned, and moments later, the door swung open as a group walked in. Leading them was a young man with a well-groomed appearance—slicked-back hair, a suit, and a tie that gave him the air of a successful businessman.
"Mr. Taylor, I heard you've been unwell. I thought I'd drop by to check on you," he said with a smile.
"You just came to check if I'm still breathing or not, huh?" Zephyr scoffed.
The atmosphere grew tense.
The young man quickly pulled himself together. "Let's not be so hostile, Mr. Taylor. After living here for so long, I'm sure you have an attachment to this place. But I'd imagine you've run into some difficulties, right?
"The sincerity of our company is unmatched." He opened his briefcase, placed a document on the table, and slid it toward Zephyr. "Take a look at this. This price is the best in Qranross and one of the most reasonable in Legate."
"Enough! I've said it before—I'm not selling the pharmacy. You're just doing your job, so I'll let it go, but you can leave now." Zephyr waved him off.
The young man frowned. "Mr. Taylor, you're being unreasonable."
He glanced at Luciana. "Ms. Taylor is young and beautiful. If something unfortunate happened to her, that'd be a real shame, wouldn't you agree?"
Daniel had nothing but contempt for people like this, who would resort to such low tactics to get their way.
Zephyr's face darkened immediately.
Zephyr's face darkened. Before he could speak, Daniel picked up the glass of tea Luciana had just brewed and splashed it on the young man.
