Betrayed, But Not Defeated novel Chapter 74

Hector looked a bit puzzled. "Young man, do you know who I am?"

Daniel glanced at him and then shook his head. "No, I don't."

Zephyr held back a chuckle and patted Hector on the shoulder. "Since the Shadowheart Vine issue is settled, let's return to my place."

Hector hesitated but eventually got into the car.

Daniel was focused on refining his herbal formula. After dropping them off at the Taylor Apothecary, he hit the gas and sped off.

Hector found his behavior hard to accept. "Zephyr, looks like the new generation is taking over. Is this the end of my era?"

"Well, you could see it as a blessing in disguise. With the Shadowheart Vine no longer possessing you, you can finally focus on your own business," Zephyr reassured him, though he couldn't help but suppress a laugh.

Hector had always been the center of attention, so Daniel's neglect stung. But Daniel had done well earlier, and his actions had undoubtedly left a strong impression on him.

Daniel wasn't at all concerned with Hector's identity. Even if he knew who he was, what difference would it make?

Back at the villa, Daniel got to work. Without an alchemy furnace, he made do with a gas stove. After all, it was just a simple herbal formula.

Soon, the kitchen filled with smoke, and a sharp, unpleasant smell wafted through the villa. However, as the essence of the Shadowheart Vine mixed into the concoction, the foul odor quickly turned into a faint, pleasant fragrance. It was truly magical.

A smile crept onto Daniel's lips. It was clear—the formula had worked.

"This was originally a Rejuvenating Pill formula, but I swapped out several of the spiritual herbs, so the effect is much weaker. Let's just call it the youth cream instead." Daniel collected the cream and planned to surprise Charlene when she returned.
