Betrayed, But Not Defeated novel Chapter 85

"Stop the bleeding!" Silas commanded coldly.

Luciana snapped to attention and nodded hurriedly. "I... I run a traditional medicine shop. I know a few herbs that can stop the bleeding, but your wounds are so severe. I'd recommend going to the hospital."

Silas paused, his brows knitting in frustration. "If I could go to a hospital, would I be here? Stop talking nonsense! Give me the herbs!"

"Oh, okay!" Luciana finally reacted belatedly, which thoroughly annoyed Silas.

If she still weren't useful, he wouldn't hesitate to kill her on the spot. How infuriating! Someone with this level of intelligence wanted to study traditional medicine?

"Get me some Triroot Balm, Cranewort, and Silverstalk Root!" he rattled off, giving her some pointers. With the way Luciana was acting, he might bleed out before she even figured out which herbs to use!

"Got it!" Luciana replied, then gathered the herbs.

Silas watched her, keeping a sharp eye on her movements. Thankfully, the seemingly clumsy girl didn't try anything tricky.

"What bad luck," Silas muttered under his breath.

He had originally thought Daniel was just a rich young heir, but he hadn't expected the man to be so powerful. Daniel had crushed him with a single move, and Silas had barely managed to escape. Afterward, he had found a medicine shop only to be greeted by a clueless fool!

Luciana moved quickly, collecting the herbs Silas had named. The dim light cast shadows around her as she worked, but Silas didn't need much more than a glance to know the herbs were right.

He didn't ask Luciana to help. Frankly, she didn't strike him as particularly sharp, and trusting her to assist him would only complicate matters further.

"You should consider a different career," Silas remarked after treating his wound. With the bleeding finally under control thanks to the herbs, he let out a sigh of relief and prepared to leave.

Originally, he had planned to silence her. But now wasn't the time to leave a trail of bodies behind, and killing her might expose him. Leaving Qranross was the smarter move.
