Betrayed, But Not Defeated novel Chapter 86

But this time, as Daniel observed Luciana, he saw a flicker of dark energy pass across her forehead. It was so brief that he almost thought he had imagined it.

He narrowed his eyes, his fingers subtly moving as he spoke. "Do you think you're really slow? Are you always forgetting what you've seen?"

"Yes!" Luciana immediately nodded, her face falling. "My grandfather had hoped to pass on his medical knowledge to me, but my talent just isn't up to it! But I've tried really hard!"

"Effort's one thing, but this is more than just that. You have an illness." Daniel shook his head, exhaling. "Forget it. You've done me a big favor this time, so I'll find a way to treat you. It'll take a few days."

It wasn't that Daniel didn't know how to treat her right now, but Luciana's condition was rather unique and required many things. He would need some time to prepare.

Luciana eyed him skeptically. "You're not just making this up, are you? I've had myself checked—I'm healthy!"

Daniel tapped her on the forehead lightly. "The problem's here. I'm not calling you names, but it's the truth. When your grandfather returns, I'll come see you again."

With that, Daniel motioned for Alden to take Silas away.

Luciana pouted, her thoughts tangled. Was Daniel implying she was mentally ill? She wasn't so clueless that she couldn't tell what he meant!

At Obsidian Group's basement, Silas slowly regained consciousness. As he realized he was bound, a mocking smile crossed his face.

"Heh, who would've thought? Spent my days hunting prey, only to get my eyes pecked out. Fine, I accept my fate."

Daniel sat in front of him. "No need for all that anger. Isn't it better to be alive?"

"Heh. Daniel, use whatever methods you want. If I flinch even once, I'll take your name!" Silas lifted his head proudly, his arrogance apparent.

Daniel didn't respond with words. With a flick of his fingers, a burst of energy slammed into Silas' body.
