Chapter 436
Chapter 436
ROMAN
I didn’t give myself time to think twice about it.
If I did, I might hesitate.
And hesitation was the one thing I couldn’t afford right now.
I walked back into the house.
The moment I saw that Helen had stepped out and was heading toward her room, I was already moving. I tried not to rush-because that would draw attention-but I wasn’t slow
either.
There was a purpose to my steps, something steady pushing me forward even as my mind tried to catch up with what I was about to do.
By the time she got inside and the door closed, I was already there.
I raised my hand and knocked.
There was a brief pause before the door opened.
Helen stood there, clearly not expecting to see me. The surprise was subtle, but it was there -in the slight narrowing of her eyes, in the way her posture shifted as she took me in.
“Roman?” she said. “What do you want?”
Straight to the point.
I respected that.
“I just need a minute,” I replied. “To talk… please.”
She studied me for a second, like she was trying to figure out whether this was worth her time. Given everything she already had on her plate, I wouldn’t have blamed her if she had turned me away.
But after a moment, she stepped aside.
“Make it quick.”
I nodded and walked in.
The room felt different from the rest of the house-quieter, heavier somehow. Like everything

inside it had weight. I didn’t dwell on it. I couldn’t afford to get distracted.
I turned to face her.
“It’s about the Luna,” I said.
That got her full attention immediately.
Her expression sharpened, whatever mild distraction she had disappearing completely.
“What about her?”
I didn’t drag it out.
Didn’t ease into it.
“There’s something you’re planning,” I said. “Something that involves… tying her life to someone else.”
Her gaze didn’t change much-but I saw it.
“And how,” she asked slowly, “do you know that?”
There it was.
I exhaled quietly.
“I know it was wrong,” I said. “But I heard everything.”
I didn’t try to justify it.
Didn’t try to soften it.
Her eyes stayed on me.
I held her gaze.
Didn’t look away.
“I made a decision,” I added.
That seemed to interest her more than the rest.
“What decision?”
I took a breath.
Then said it.
< Chapter 436
“I’ll do it.”
She didn’t react immediately.
Not the way I expected.
No shock.
No interruption.
She was just silent.
So I continued.
“I’ll take his place,” I said. “I’ll do it instead of Alpha Alexander.”
For a second, she just looked at me.
Really looked.

Like she was trying to figure out if I understood what I was saying-or if I was just talking without thinking.
“You’re volunteering,” she said slowly, “to take on something you don’t understand?”
“I understand enough,” I replied.
Her brows drew together slightly.
“Do you?” she asked.
There was something in her tone now.
“Do you understand what you’re offering, Roman?”
I nodded.
“Yes.”
She didn’t look convinced.
“If this goes wrong-”
“I know,” I cut in.
Her gaze hardened slightly at the interruption.
So I clarified.
C Chapter 43
“I know what happens if it goes wrong” I said. “I’m not guessing”
“Luna Faye is already at risk, I continued. “That part doesn’t change.”
Her eyes didn’t leave mine.
“And Alpha Alexander-he’s the Alpha,” I went on. “You’re saying it’s a good idea to tie him into something like this? To risk him too?”
Her jaw tightened slightly.
I didn’t stop.
“What happens if something goes wrong?” I asked. “What happens to the pack?”
The question hung in the air.
“He’s not just… him,” I added. “He’s everything holding this place together.”
Helen didn’t respond immediately.
So I kept going.
“But me?” I said.
That was where it shifted.
That was where I meant every word without hesitation.
“My life doesn’t hold that kind of weight.”
Her expression changed again.
“Whatever I had before this,” I continued, quieter now, “it’s not here.”
I shook my head slightly.
“I don’t even remember it.”
That part sat differently in my mind.
But I didn’t let it stop me.
“The only reason I even have a place here is because of them,” I said. “Because of Luna Faye. Because of Alpha Alexander.”
That was the truth.
“They didn’t have to take me in,” I added. “They didn’t have to give me anything.”
Chapter 436
My hands loosened slightly at my sides.
“But they did.”
Helen was still watching me.
“And now this is happening,” I said. “And we’re talking about risking the Alpha when there’s another option standing right here.”
I held her gaze firmly.
“Me.”
I swallowed.
“If something goes wrong,” I continued, “and I die-”
I shrugged slightly.
The motion felt small.
Insignificant.
But it carried everything I meant.
“Then that’s it.”
But if it wasn’t me-
“If Alpha Alexander is the one tied to this and something happens…” I let the sentence hang.
I didn’t need to finish it.
We both knew where it led.
Silence filled the room again.
But this time, it was different.
Thicker.
I took a slow breath.
“I’m not saying this lightly,” I added. “I’ve thought about it.”
Even if it hadn’t been for long.
Even if the decision came fast.
Chapter 436
It didn’t feel rushed.
It felt right.
“Luna Faye matters,” I said. “To him, to you, to this pack, and to me.”
I paused.
Then finished it.
“And if it comes down to my life-if this is what gives her a chance-”
I didn’t hesitate.
“Then I’m willing to take that risk.”
I met her eyes fully.
No doubt.
No second-guessing.
“If I die along with her…” I said quietly, “then so be it.”
