A Warrior's Second Chance (Faye and Alexander) novel Chapter 555

Chapter 552

FAYE

Andrea had been gone for quite some time now.

Yet somehow, the conversation we had shared refused to leave my mind.

I stood on the upstairs porch outside our chambers, my hands resting lightly against the railing as I stared absently across the compound.

The afternoon had slipped quietly into evening without me even realizing it.

My though had been elsewhere.

Lo

I found myself questioning something I had never thought to question before.

there was one thing no one could ever accuse Alexander of, it was neglecting his responsibilities.

He was one of the busiest people I had ever met.

Not only did he carry the weight of an entire pack on his shoulders, but he also ran his family’s business empire, with several branches operating under his supervision.

Even with all of that, he somehow found time to attend council meetings, inspect training sessions, settle disputes, review reports, and make decisions that affected thousands of wolves every single day.

She sounded like she believed it withrevery fiber of her being.

And that left me wondering..

1 knew what life looked like here in the capital.

The roads were maintained.

The warriors were well supplied.

Construction projects rarely remained unfinished for long.

Whenever Alexander approved something, I had always assumed it reached the people it was intended

for.

But then…

How much did I really know about the eastern border?

The truth was… very little.

I had spent almost all my time here in the capital and on matters that rarely involved the more remote

settlements.

I had never taken the time to explore those communities myself.

Was it possible they had truly been forgotten?

Or…

Was it possible something else had happened?

I let out a slow breath.

My eyes drifted toward the front gates just as a familiar vehicle rolled through them.

Alexander’s car.

I straightened slightly.

So he was finally back.

The vehicle made its way across the compound before coming to a stop near the main entrance.

Even from where I stood, I could recognize the way Alexander stepped out of the driver’s seat.

He looked just as serious as he had when we disagreed earlier.

I wondered where he was coming from.

Before I could think any further, a gentle knock sounded behind me. I turned away from the railing and walked back inside the chambers. Crossing the sitting room, I made my way to the door and opened it.

Chapter 552

Martha stood on the other side with her usual polite smile.

“Good evening, Luna, Martha greeted. “Dinner is ready.”

I returned her smile

“I’ll be down shortly,” I replied.

Then another thought occurred to me.

“And please serve dinner for the Alpha as well.”

Martha nodded immediately.

“Of course, Luna,” Martha replied.

She excused herself and walked away.

A few minutes later, the bedroom door opened.

I looked up from where I was sitting on the edge of the bed just as Alexander walked in.

Although the exhaustion hadn’t completely left his face, he looked noticeably calmer than he had earlier.

He spotted me immediately.

“How was your day?” Alexander asked.

I gave a small shrug.

“It was alright,” I replied. “I was actually waiting for you to get back so we could have dinner together.”

A faint smile tugged at the corner of his lips.

He rubbed a hand across his forehead as though he already knew there was no escaping that invitation.

I couldn’t help smiling to myself.

Without arguing, he walked over to the dresser, dropped his car keys into one of the drawers, and closed

“Alright,” Alexander said. “Let’s go have dinner.”

I stood up from the bed.

“I’m glad you didn’t argue,” I teased.

“I considered it,” Alexander admitted. “Then I remembered I’d lose.”

I smirked.

Dinner had already been laid out by the time we reached the dining room.

The servants quietly excused themselves after serving us, leaving the two of us alone.

Late slowly.

Not because I wasn’t hungry.

Because my mind was elsewhere.

Every now and then, I found myself looking across the table at Alexander.

Not for long.

Just long enough.

Then I’d look away again.

I wanted to hear Alexander’s side so badly.

I wanted to understand everything before allowing myself to form an opinion.
