The women of the Sutton family were notoriously obsessed with skincare. Until now, they had to pay for their own high-end beauty treatments, burning through massive chunks of their personal allowances year after year. Now, with Nelly bringing in a private doctor skilled in dermal therapies, they'd get premium skincare for free. They were practically vibrating with excitement, eager for Dr. Adams to sign on with the family.
Having successfully brokered the deal, Iris was thrilled. She rested her head obediently against Nelly's lap. "Actually, getting the brilliant Dr. Adams is all thanks to Holden."
Holden smoothly took the cue, sharing his personal endorsement of the Adams Wellness Clinic's custom formulas. "I strained the tendons in my leg a few days ago. The soreness was awful, but the moment I used their proprietary topical spray, the discomfort vanished instantly."
The wife of the third Sutton brother immediately perked up. She had overextended herself in yoga recently and pulled a muscle in her hip. It gave her a terrible limp and made intimacy with her husband completely impossible. "Where can I buy that? I need some right now."
Nelly realized the timing was perfect. Winifred was currently on her way, and since she worked for Dr. Adams, she could easily act as the delivery girl. Nelly, of course, hadn't yet informed Winifred that she was being fired.
She immediately issued an order to Iris. "Sweetheart, call Dr. Adams and have Winifred bring the medicine with her."
Paige, the pregnant wife of the fifth Sutton brother, placed a hand on her slightly swelling belly and interjected. "Dr. Shultz is probably almost at the gates by now. The Adams Clinic is all the way across town at the North Gate. It would be a huge hassle for her to turn back and get it."
Nelly shot Paige a venomous glare. How dare she speak up?
Paige had struggled to conceive for years, undergoing countless medical exams while desperately hiding the results. She always claimed her reproductive health was perfect, blaming her thin frame for her fertility issues. It was only after Winifred became a trusted presence in the house that Paige had confessed the truth in private: multiple abortions in college, a wild phase filled with A-list actors and models, culminating in three terminations in a single year, plus a bout of HPV. Her uterine lining had been as thin as tissue paper, plagued by constant inflammation.
Why the sudden shift?
Then, realization dawned. Ah, right. Dr. Adams. Winifred's boss, a top-tier medical genius. That explained it. Once you had the absolute best, who cared what happened to the underling?
Iris, of course, was perfectly happy to comply. Holden was currently waiting for a fresh batch of that exact muscle spray anyway. The last time they were at the clinic, the pharmacy only had one bottle left, and Dr. Adams had promised to expedite a new batch. It was probably ready by now.
Iris calculated quickly: they should have Winifred bring ten bottles. Holden's long legs required a lot of product, and one bottle was only good for two applications. She'd keep seven bottles to ensure her beloved fiancé fully recovered without any lingering issues.
